## Description

The Health Information Management team supports the accuracy, accessibility, privacy, and integrity of patient health information. The HIM Specialist performs a variety of functions, including Release of Information (ROI), scanning medical records, and deficiency tracking to ensure patient information is processed accurately and timely while maintaining compliance with HIPAA and regulatory requirements., * Process requests for medical information from patients and continued-care requestors, ensuring appropriate authorization and adherence to HIPAA guidelines.

 * Ensure timely and accurate access to medical information while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.
 * Retrieve, prepare, and scan medical information into the electronic medical record.
 * Review scanned documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, legibility, and data integrity.
 * Review appropriate documents within Emergency Department and outpatient encounters for physician completion.
 * Track outstanding documentation deficiencies and follow up to support timely completion in accordance with regulatory guidelines.
 * Maintain accurate records and follow established Health Information Management policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
