## Description

The Staff Software Engineer will lead the development and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, including infrastructure, tooling, and AI/ML frameworks, aligned with strategic roadmaps. This role encompasses full lifecycle ownership of software solutions, from design and coding to deployment and maintenance, applying cloud-native principles to enhance system resilience and agility. The position requires technical leadership, mentorship, and collaboration across teams to drive engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. The engineer will engage stakeholders to translate complex problems into actionable requirements, ensuring high-quality, sustainable solutions that support business objectives and operational efficiency.

About the team:

The Transportation team advances Walmart's Supply Chain by developing scalable, resilient applications that enhance delivery efficiency to warehouses, stores, and customers. Leveraging real-time telematics, computer vision, and IoT across Walmart's and third-party fleets, the team optimizes fleet management and reduces costs. Utilizing a robust technology stack including React Native, Java microservices with Spring Boot, Postgres Timescale DB, Kafka, Cosmos, ElasticSearch, Azure, Splunk, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines, the team ensures high performance and reliability. Continuous innovation drives solutions that meet evolving business needs and support operational excellence.

What you'll do:

 * Deliver platform capabilities including infrastructure, tooling, and ML frameworks aligned with roadmap milestones and domain priorities.
 * Drive full software development lifecycle activities such as coding, testing, deployment, monitoring, and maintenance.
 * Apply cloud-native architecture principles to ensure scalable, resilient, and agile systems.
 * Conduct system design reviews to validate feasibility and ensure alignment with architectural best practices.
 * Build AI-driven applications integrating ML components and intelligent automation features.
