This would be a manager-of-managers role at the Bethpage, NY facility with responsibility for approximately of over 50 staff. The Systems Engineering manager will be expected to perform productive (direct charge) work on programs in addition to functional management duties. It is anticipated that given the size of this organization, the split between program and functional duties will be approximately 70/30, on average. As an integral part of our Airborne Multifunction Sensors Division you will clearly demonstrate strong management skills and will have a track record as a motivated leader, an effective communicator, and problem solver who is able to develop and maintain good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. The Section Manager will be responsible for addressing cost, schedule, and technical quality for development efforts. There is additional functional oversight for the section including functional budgeting, staffing and workload management, and being the primary discipline interface to the Facility Manager and Business Unit leaders. The section Manager will be expected to support 10-15 direct reports consisting of managers and senior technical staff of varied disciplines working multiple programs, IRAD, and new business capture opportunities with strategic importance for large downstream value. This position will report to the Director of Systems Engineering. The SEIT Sensors Section Lead will also be responsible for staffing and workload forecast; support and adherence to standard software processes; lessons learned; and employee engagement, mentoring and career development, including training and identification and training of skills required to execute on programs. The responsibilities include the recruiting, sourcing, onboarding, and contract maintenance for the contractors working in the business area. The successful candidate will clearly demonstrate strong leadership skills and will have a track record as an effective communicator and problem solver. The SEIT Sensors Section Lead will have an ability to operate in a team environment and collaborate across the sector business areas as required to accomplish the team goals. The selected candidates will work closely with Managers of other engineering disciplines, and Program Managers. The direct program work may include systems engineering technical work, conducting design reviews, IPT leadership, consulting, proposal support, or any other appropriate technical function. Functional Roles & Responsibilities: * Lead section staff based on goals, objectives, and company policies. * Provide engineering staffing to programs. * Ensure adherence to established engineering processes. * Manage workload forecasting, hire/develop new engineering talent. * Prepare, manage, and conduct Quarterly Connections. * Manage department budget and support compensation planning. * Support proposal activities (lead, technical/management volume development, Basis of Estimate (BOE) development/defense). * Support and lead engineering organization efforts aimed towards skill and career development; continuous improvement; and growth.
