We invest heavily in our people, who are eager to learn and constantly improve. Join our team and grow with us! As an Engineering Manager, Software Development in PitchBook's engineering division, you will lead the Authentication & Identity Stream-Aligned Team (SAT), which owns end-user authentication and system-level authorization across PitchBook products, including the web platform, mobile applications, Excel and PowerPoint add-ins, and the Chrome extension. You will lead a distributed team of backend engineers and SDETs, supported by a technical lead, architect, and product manager. The Authentication domain is PitchBook's primary interface to third-party identity providers and Morningstar identity systems. The team's flagship, multi-year initiative is the migration from legacy credential and SSO infrastructure to Auth0-based Customer Identity and Access Management (CIAM). Current work includes credential migration, silent authentication, SAML and Okta SSO connections, consolidation of microsite login flows, multi-factor authentication, session management, and just-in-time user provisioning. Because Authentication is a Tier-1, always-on service on the critical path for every customer and internal login, this role balances secure feature delivery with reliability, high availability, operational excellence, and scalable identity infrastructure. Primary Job Responsibilities: * Own engineering outcomes for the Authentication & Identity SAT, including capacity, delivery velocity, quality, reliability, scalability, and technical health * Align engineering execution with the Authentication domain strategy and roadmap, including the Auth0 and SSO migration, and translate priorities into achievable delivery plans * Lead, coach, and grow engineers and technical leads through regular feedback, career development, performance management, and compensation input * Build and evolve the team through hiring, onboarding, succession planning, and thoughtful management of the team's skill and seniority mix * Own short- and long-term capacity and capability planning; identify constraints early and drive mitigation through hiring, reprioritization, internal movement, or support from enabling teams * Ensure effective execution across the software development lifecycle, including refinement, design, estimation, implementation, testing, deployment, production support, and continuous improvement * Partner with the SAT Architect, Product Manager, Platform, Architecture, and Security teams on solution design, technical standards, and secure handling of identity and authentication data * Be accountable for the stability, performance, availability, and overall quality of the Authentication Service and related identity services, including observability, service-level objectives, incident reduction, and operational readiness * Evolve engineering practices across code review, CI/CD, automated testing, incident response, documentation, and the responsible use of Generative AI tools * Build a healthy, inclusive, and high-performing team culture grounded in psychological safety, accountability, collaboration, candor, and fun * Partner closely with Product, the Core Admin Platform teams, and other domains to manage dependencies, contribute to domain-level planning, support company values, and participate in broader company initiatives, The job conditions for this position are in a standard office setting. Employees in this position use PC and phone on an on-going basis throughout the day. Limited corporate travel may be required to remote offices or other business meetings and events. ## Related Videos - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Develop enterprise-ready applications for Microsoft Teams with Azure resources on modern web technologies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/187-develop-enterprise-ready-applications-for-microsoft-teams-with-azure-resources-on-modern-web-technologies) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) - [Docker build without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100114-docker-build-without-docker) - [Coffee with Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/354-coffee-with-developers) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [The Best X (Twitter) Accounts for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/294-the-best-x-twitter-accounts-for-developers) - [How to Answer the Interview Question: “Why Do You Want to Be a Software Engineer?”](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/392-how-to-answer-the-interview-question-why-do-you-want-to-be-a-software-engineer) - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [The 12 Best Jobs for Software Engineers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/401-the-12-best-jobs-for-software-engineers)
