## About the Role

* Expert-level software engineering experience, particularly with Java and modern development practices.
 * Strong experience with microservices, RESTful APIs and event-driven architecture.
 * Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, MongoDB and Redis.
 * Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure or GCP, Docker, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation.
 * Strong understanding of CI/CD, automated testing, secure coding and operational resilience.
 * Proven experience providing technical leadership and mentoring engineers.
 * Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams to deliver user-centred digital services.
 * Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

## Description

* Lead the design, development and delivery of secure, scalable and high-quality software solutions.
 * Provide technical leadership, mentoring and guidance to engineers, promoting continuous improvement and best practice.
 * Design and evolve robust architectures, including microservices, REST APIs and event-driven systems.
 * Translate complex business and user requirements into maintainable, performant technical solutions.
 * Drive engineering practices including CI/CD, automated testing, code reviews and cloud-native development.
 * Diagnose and resolve complex architectural, performance and technical-debt issues.
 * Collaborate with Product, Delivery, UX, Architecture and DevOps teams in agile, multidisciplinary environments.
 * Ensure systems meet security, resilience, accessibility, performance and government standards.
 * Contribute to technical strategy, architecture decisions and engineering standards across teams.
 * Take ownership of technical delivery and work effectively under broad direction.
