You'll report to the Software Engineering Manager and work across the entire stack, building APIs and services on the backend while shipping polished, user-facing features on the frontend. This isn't a backend role with occasional frontend work or vice-versa. You'll be expected to move fluidly between both. This is a high-ownership role. You'll partner with Product Management, Architects, and engineers across teams to ship features that give biotech and pharmaceutical companies actionable clinical and business insights. Someone who doesn't just write code but shapes technical direction. Our Stack * TypeScript across the entire codebase * Backend: NestJS, TypeORM, PostgreSQL, AWS DynamoDB, Zod * Frontend: React 19, Vite, Tailwind CSS, Radix UI, TanStack Query, Zustand, React Hook Form * Infrastructure: AWS (CDK, ECS, EC2, Aurora RDS, Cognito, S3, SES, SQS, EventBridge, Lambda, Secrets Manager) * Tooling: Turborepo, pnpm, ESLint, Prettier, Swagger/OpenAPI, Github Actions (status checks / deployments) * Testing: Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Testcontainers * Integrations: Twilio, Tableau, Novu * Monitoring & Observability: Sentry, CloudWatch, OpenFeature (feature flags) Responsibilities * Design and build APIs and services in our NestJS/TypeScript backend, including domain modeling, schema design, and service architecture. * Build and iterate on user-facing features in our React/TypeScript frontend, turning wireframes and product requirements into production UI. * Own features end-to-end: from understanding the problem with Product, through implementation on both sides of the stack, to production observability. * Ensure the delivery of high-quality, reliable, and maintainable software by implementing comprehensive automated testing across the full stack (frontend, backend, and integration layers) * Work within our AWS infrastructure and make informed decisions about service boundaries and cloud-native patterns. * Proactively identify and resolve production issues. You care about system health, not just shipping. * Mentor other engineers through code review, pairing, and architectural guidance., We are a highly collaborative team and prioritize opportunities to connect in person. For employees within a reasonable driving distance of each other, we host regional town hall gatherings approximately every other month. These sessions give our teams a chance to come together, share updates, and strengthen relationships beyond day-to-day work. ## Related Videos - [20 billion requests a week: Upgrading Twilio's API gateway at scale](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100234-20-billion-requests-a-week-upgrading-twilio-s-api-gateway-at-scale) - [Nest.js - TypeScript in the backend can also be clean](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1033-nest-js-typescript-in-the-backend-can-also-be-clean) - [The two trees of React](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100180-the-two-trees-of-react) - [Build and Deploy a Fullstack App with Open Source Tooling](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/775-build-and-deploy-a-fullstack-app-with-open-source-tooling) - [Minimal infrastructure for Real‑Time Phone Agents: transcripts in, responses out](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1736-minimal-infrastructure-for-real-time-phone-agents-transcripts-in-responses-out) - [Shipping Faster with Less: Render on Cloud Hosting, AI Workloads, and the Future of DevOps](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1894-shipping-faster-with-less-render-on-cloud-hosting-ai-workloads-and-the-future-of-devops) ## Related Articles - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [React Developer Salary [2023]](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/198-react-developer-salary-2023) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [The Biggest German Tech Companies](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/424-the-biggest-german-tech-companies)
