## About the Role

As an IT Support Engineer, you will provide expert technical support and guidance to academics, students, staff, and visitors on a broad range of IT matters. Working as part of a collaborative team, you will manage incidents and service requests through our helpdesk system, providing assistance via email, telephone, and in person.
The successful candidate will have experience in first-line PC support within a customer-focused IT environment and be confident in installing, troubleshooting, and repairing hardware and software. You will bring strong analytical and problem-solving skills, a broad understanding of IT systems, and the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies quickly. Experience with asset management, including ordering and stock control, as well as managing small-scale IT projects, will be advantageous.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will be required to convey technical information clearly to non-specialist users. You should be organised, methodical, and detail-oriented, able to prioritise and manage your workload effectively while meeting deadlines. The role also requires a proactive, collaborative approach and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
A relevant IT qualification, such as a BTEC National Diploma or equivalent experience, is desirable, as is familiarity with ITIL frameworks and processes. Experience supporting Apple Mac computers, mobile devices, and working within a university IT environment would be beneficial.
