Agent guide: [/agents.md](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/agents.md). --- # Senior Security Engineer - 12 Month FTC - **Company:** PXC - **Location:** Manchester, UK (Remote available) - **Experience:** Expert - **Contract:** Temporary contract - **Skills:** Backup Devices, Software as a Service, Cloud Computing, Complex Networks, Cyber Security, High-Level Architecture, Network Security, Remote Access Technology, Cloud Services, Zero Trust Network Access, Security Information and Event Management, Data Logging, Computer Networking Systems, Multi-Cloud, HybridCloud, Cloud Optimization - **Published:** September 10, 2026 - **Apply:** https://www.collegerecruiter.com/job/2840600702-senior-security-engineer-12-month-ftc ## About the Role * Demonstrate experience of building, maintaining, and supporting complex enterprise networks. * Knowledge and Experience of Multi Cloud networks and SAAS applications would be advantageous. * Able to understand and articulate high-level designs and detailed low-level documentation, and complex network diagrams. * Understand and demonstrate experience working with security technology suites from various vendors (F5, Netskope) and in technology specific areas (WAF, Web Gateways, PAM etc.). * Be comfortable with technology compliance and governance. * Be familiar with asset management, monitoring, logging, backups, remote access, etc. * A strong background in Networking and Security and understanding of security best practices within large complex infrastructure. * Hands-on experience in the administration and configuration of Security products. * Build, maintain and support mission critical network and security platforms. * A good understanding of security technologies e.g., WAF, Securing Hybrid Cloud platforms, SIEM, SWG, ZTNA, PAM. * Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. * Hands on knowledge of ISO, PCI/DSS, NIST, Cyber Essentials and other relevant security standards. ## Description The Public Cloud Team are responsible for producing high level conceptual and low-level designs, delivering the build of those designs, and ensuring that solutions are supportable when transitioned into run support. The team applies functional knowledge and technical expertise to deliver and maintain systems which ensure that PXC network remains secure and reliable against today's threats. The team consists of technical experts in Technology and Security, who work as part of the wider Security business unit and align to the strategic objective of continuous improvement of NIST based Security Maturity. Working as part of the wider Cloud Infrastructure team to ensure our Public Cloud Infrastructure is fit for purpose, meets best practice and is secure and available., As Senior Infrastructure Security Engineer you will own, manage, support, and maintain the security infrastructure that empowers our staff, along with the security tooling which protects it. You will work to deliver secure, stable and scalable solutions, ensuring any developments to the group's Cloud strategy align with the wider business strategy and security requirements of the TalkTalk Group. As part of the wider team Public Cloud Services Team, you will work across all our technologies and with teams from all areas of the business. You will act as first point of contact and help guide users to an appropriate solution. You will help ensure a cloud first, secure by design approach to everything delivered by the Public Cloud Services Team. About the Day to Day Security build and maintenance: * Build and support physical and virtual security infrastructure to ensure stable and reliable services. * Deliver on project requirements to ensure TalkTalk network and security standards are upheld. * Maintain security equipment across the office, datacentres, and cloud, ensuring devices remain secure, patched, and fit for purpose. * Manage all Security assets ensuring everything is accounted for, in life and up to date. * Manage the end-to-end life cycle of Security equipment. * Work overtime for out of hours changes and on call for out of hours support where required (paid). Security BAU: * Manage the Security Engineering case queues, ensuring tickets are responded to and closed within SLA. * Provide top tier support to all Security customers. * Act as triage for incoming 3rd line incidents and requests. * Administrate security tooling, including reporting on, and actioning any potential threats to security or service. * Be accountable for work delivered, ensuring all work is in line with TalkTalk security and network standards. * Perform changes to the security systems in a stable and suitable manner, following change management processes. * Help to perform root cause analysis and problem management on Major Incidents and repeat tickets. Communication: * Collaborate with teams across TalkTalk group on risks, improvements, best practices and better understand their challenges. * Challenge colleagues on projects and tickets that do not meet our standards or could lead to security vulnerabilities or support issues. * Collaborate with Business Partners and Offshore partners to resolve incidents, validate and plan technical change and problem management, to ensure a high level of support to TalkTalk. * Interact and coordinate with peers, vendors, suppliers and consultants and work with incident, change and problem management teams as required. Security Architecture: * Contribute to the adoption of principles, patterns, standards, and guidelines that direct the selection, development, implementation, and use of technology within the team's domain. * Work with management to create and maintain the technology roadmap for the technologies in use by Public Cloud Services, with consideration for future architecture direction requirements. * Understand and influence the return on investment and value gain from chosen technologies, by working in partnership with other business areas. Recognise improvement requirements and drive priorities forward - We commit, We challenge. * Ensure all equipment and tooling used by Public Cloud Services has appropriate security patching.
