We work closely with application, security, and architecture teams to deliver secure, scalable, and resilient infrastructure. Operating within Agile and DevSecOps ways of working, the team focuses on automation, standardisation, and a cloud-first strategy. Our role is to balance innovation with the high reliability and compliance standards required in a regulated financial services environment. Your Role As a Senior Engineer, you will be a hands-on technical contributor responsible for building, operating, and continually improving Linux-based infrastructure platforms. You will apply strong engineering judgment to implement Infrastructure as Code, automation, and cloud-native practices. This role requires deep technical expertise, the ability to resolve complex, non-routine issues independently, and close collaboration with delivery teams. You will exercise independent judgement on technical decisions and clearly communicate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, while providing informal technical guidance to peers. You Will Be Responsible For: * Engineering and supporting Unix/Linux platforms across on-premises and cloud environments using DevOps principles, with minimal supervision. * Building, maintaining, and enhancing Infrastructure as Code solutions using tools such as Puppet, Ansible, Terraform, and Git. * Acting as a Unix/Linux subject matter expert within Agile delivery squads, helping shape technical approaches and resolving non-routine platform challenges. * Developing and maintaining automation using modern scripting and tooling languages (e.g., Go, TypeScript) to reduce manual effort and operational risk. * Collaborating with application, cloud, and security teams to design and implement secure, reliable, and scalable Linux-based solutions. * Ensuring systems are configured in line with security, regulatory, audit, and operational resilience requirements. * Troubleshooting complex platform and infrastructure issues that impact business-critical services. * Leading small technical initiatives or workstreams with manageable risk, contributing to platform standards, best practices, and continuous improvement. ## Related Videos - [How a Small Team Shrank a Microsoft Monorepo by 94%](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1236-how-a-small-team-shrank-a-microsoft-monorepo-by-94) - [WeAreDevelopers LIVE - Node and Package Security](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2138-wearedevelopers-live-node-and-package-security) - [Docker network without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1418-docker-network-without-docker) - [Enabling automated 1-click customer deployments with built-in quality and security](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/83-enabling-automated-1-click-customer-deployments-with-built-in-quality-and-security) - [Git for Code Reviews](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/429-git-for-code-reviews) - [My journey into DevOps world - How it all started!](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/545-my-journey-into-devops-world-how-it-all-started) ## Related Articles - [How We Built a Worry-Free System That Runs for 10+ Years – And What We’d Do Again](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/751-how-we-built-a-worry-free-system-that-runs-for-10-years-and-what-we-d-do-again) - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [Now is the time for industrialized software development](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/601-now-is-the-time-for-industrialized-software-development) - [Why Upskilling And Reskilling is Important For Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/428-why-upskilling-and-reskilling-is-important-for-developers) - [Highest Paying Tech Companies for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/220-highest-paying-tech-companies-for-developers) - [Best Coding Boot Camps in Germany](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/237-best-coding-boot-camps-in-germany)
