## About the Role

* Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (or closely related field) from an accredited program.
 * 8+ years of electrical design experience in industrial equipment, HVAC/mechanical equipment, control panels, or mission-critical infrastructure.
 * Expert-level proficiency in EPLAN Electric P8 - including project structuring, macro development, article management, and cross-referencing - and strong working proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical.
 * Demonstrated ownership of UL 508A panel designs, including SCCR calculations per Supplement SB; UL 508A MTR certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
 * Strong command of the NEC (NFPA 70), particularly Articles 310, 409, 430, and 440, and the ability to perform and document all supporting calculations independently (FLA/MCA/MOP, voltage drop, conductor sizing, protection coordination, transformer sizing, panel heat load).
 * Hands-on experience with VFDs, EC motors, three-phase power distribution, control transformers, and 24V control architectures.
 * Experience producing complete, production-ready drawing packages and managing formal document revision control.
 * Ability to travel 25-30%, including internationally (valid passport required)., * Experience with data center cooling equipment (CRAH, CRAC, AHU, fan walls, CDUs) or other mission-critical HVAC products.
 * Familiarity with hyperscale customer qualification programs and their electrical/EMC/safety requirements.
 * Working knowledge of BACnet/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, and controls integration concepts; exposure to Siemens Climatix or similar DDC/PLC platforms.
 * Knowledge of IEC standards, CE marking, and IECEE CB Scheme for multi-market product certification; understanding of 50/60 Hz design deltas.
 * Familiarity with UL 60335-2-40, UL 1995, IEC 62443 cybersecurity concepts, and IEEE color book methods.
 * Professional Engineer (PE) license or progress toward licensure.
 * Experience working with global engineering teams across time zones.

## Description

The Senior Electrical Engineer owns the electrical design of data center cooling equipment from concept through production release and field commissioning. You will develop UL 508A-compliant control panel designs, produce complete electrical schematic packages in EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical, and perform all electrical engineering calculations required to substantiate the design - power, protection, sizing, and thermal. You will be a key contributor to our electrical standardization program, converting today's outsourced, project-specific drawing sets into controlled, reusable, in-house standard design packages across the CRAH, AHU, FCU/FCW, and CDU product lines., Electrical Design & Schematic Development

 * Develop complete electrical schematic packages - power distribution, motor/VFD circuits, control circuits, safety circuits, terminal plans, panel layouts, wire/cable schedules, and interconnection diagrams - using EPLAN Electric P8 and AutoCAD Electrical.
 * Design industrial control panels in full compliance with UL 508A, including panel layout, component selection, spacing/bending requirements, wire sizing and color coding, and nameplate/marking requirements.
 * Build and maintain EPLAN master data: symbol libraries, macros, article/parts databases, project templates, and title block standards to enable reusable, configurable standard designs.
 * Design power circuits for EC fan arrays, VFD-driven pumps and fans (Yaskawa and equivalent), transformers, control power supplies, UPS backup circuits, and heater loads across 120V-600V, single- and three-phase, 50/60 Hz systems.
 * Design low-voltage control and instrumentation wiring for Siemens Climatix (POL family) controllers, I/O extension modules, HMIs, sensors, safety relays, and BACnet/Modbus network segments, in coordination with the Controls Engineering team.
 * Design hardwired safety chains (HOA,E-stop, smoke detection, leak detection, external interlocks) with fail-safe, normally-closed architecture consistent with product safety standards.

Engineering Calculations & Analysis

 * Full Load Amps (FLA) and Minimum Circuit Ampacity (MCA) / Maximum Overcurrent Protection (MOP) calculations for complete units per NEC and UL 60335-2-40 / UL 1995 as applicable.
 * Short-Circuit Current Rating (SCCR) determination for control panels per UL 508A Supplement SB, including component ratings, series ratings, and current-limiting device application.
 * Conductor and cable sizing, ampacity derating, and voltage drop calculations per NEC Articles 310, 430, and 440 for branch circuits, feeders, motor circuits, and control wiring.
 * Overcurrent protection and coordination: fuse and circuit breaker selection, motor branch-circuit protection, transformer primary/secondary protection, and selective coordination analysis.
 * Transformer and control power supply sizing, including inrush, regulation, and load growth margin.
 * Panel heat load / thermal dissipation calculations and enclosure thermal management design (ventilation, cooling, heater sizing for condensation control).
 * Motor and VFD sizing verification, harmonic considerations, and 50 Hz vs. 60 Hz parameter validation for equipment built.
 * Grounding and bonding design, wire pull and conduit fill calculations, and arc-flash awareness input where required.

Standardization & Documentation Control

 * Serve as document owner for assigned electrical standard documents within the controlled document register; author, revise, and release standards through formal review gates.
 * Classify all electrical design elements as Fixed, Configurable, or Project-Specific (F/C/P) and enforce this classification during project execution to prevent uncontrolled design drift.
 * Convert legacy outsourced drawing sets into in-house, controlled EPLAN standard packages; perform gap analyses between existing drawings, PRDs, BOMs, and customer specifications.
 * Develop and maintain standard BOMs with approved component libraries (Siemens, Yaskawa, Phoenix Contact, ABB, and others), including alternates and lifecycle/obsolescence tracking.
 * Support US-India engineering collaboration, including drawing standards alignment, EPLAN license sharing workflows, and re-certification checklists for IEC/CE-built units deploying to US sites (frequency, protocol defaults, wireless restrictions, unit conventions).

Project Execution & Customer Support

 * Review customer specifications, guide specs, and hyperscaler qualification requirements and translate them into compliant electrical designs; identify and formally document deviations.
 * Produce submittal-quality drawing packages and respond to customer and consultant review comments with documented engineering justification.
 * Provide technical direction to external drafting partners and panel builders; review and approve vendor drawings, panel layouts, and as-built documentation.
 * Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) and Site Acceptance Testing (SAT): develop electrical test procedures, witness testing, disposition non-conformances, and drive corrective actions.
 * Provide root-cause analysis and engineering disposition for field electrical issues, manufacturing deviations, and supplier quality escapes.

Travel Requirements

This role requires 25-30% travel, domestic and international, including:

 * Manufacturing plant visits (US and international facilities) for design support, first-article inspection, and production issue resolution.
 * Panel builder and supplier facility visits for design reviews, quality audits, and FAT witnessing.
 * Customer data center sites for SAT support, commissioning assistance, and field issue investigation.
 * Customer and consultant offices for design review meetings and qualification activities.
