## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline required.
 * Self-starter with 5-10 years of design engineering/product development experience in a solid-modeling-based CAD system (SolidWorks preferred)
 * Experience leading a project or team in a product development environment
 * Practical knowledge of GD&T (geometric dimension & tolerance), DFM (design for

manufacturability) and DFA (design for assembly)

 * Mechanically inclined, technically savvy and possess the ability to multi-task in a demanding, timeline-driven position

 * Experience and/or knowledge of the following manufacturing processes (in order of preference):
 + Cast aluminum part design
 + Injection molding and/or die casting
 + Sheet metal fabrication and/or stamping
 + Machining & turning
 + Painting & plating of metal & plastic components
 * Knowledge and use of SolidWorks surfacing preferred
 * Experience or knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) preferred
 * Experience with SolidWorks large and advanced assemblies preferred
 * Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Powerpoint, etc.) on a Windows based OS
 * Strong written and oral communication skills
 * Strong mechanical/hand tool skills desired.

Additional Requirements:

 * Ability to regularly lift and move up to 25lbs. and occasionally up to 50lbs.

## Description

* Lead project teams in the product development process
 * Design/engineer components & assemblies in 3D Solidworks CAD system to meet all functional & structural product requirements including manufacturability & assembly
 * Perform tolerance stacks and structural analysis as required to ensure designs meet requirements (Experience or knowledge of FEA (finite element analysis) preferred)
 * Prepare component & assembly detail drawings for release to supply base for fabrication
 * Develop parts lists/BOMs
 * Support prototype and production builds with hands-on support
 * Provide technical support to engineering, validation, purchasing, quality and production departments
 * Lead activities to perform root cause analysis of product and part issues
 * Support company technical initiatives (e.g. - ISO compliance)
 * Mentor less experienced engineers on design techniques and best practices
