## About the Role

* 5+ years of Data Engineering experience
 * Strong hands-on expertise with Azure Databricks
 * Advanced SQL and Python development skills
 * Experience with Spark/PySpark and large-scale data processing
 * Strong understanding of data modelling, data warehousing, and data integration concepts
 * Experience with Azure Data Factory, Synapse Analytics, and other Microsoft Azure data services
 * Proven experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions
 * Experience within heavy manufacturing, industrial, engineering, energy, chemicals, mining, automotive, or large-scale production environments
 * Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
 * Professional proficiency in English

Nice-to-Have Experience

 * Experience with Azure AI Foundry
 * Experience with Azure OpenAI
 * Exposure to machine learning or AI-enabled data platforms
 * Experience supporting modern data and AI transformation programmes

## Description

We are seeking an experienced Azure Data Platform Engineer to join a strategic transformation programme within a global heavy manufacturing organisation. The successful consultant will play a key role in designing, developing, and enhancing cloud-based data platforms that support enterprise reporting, advanced analytics, and AI-driven initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have deep expertise across the Microsoft Azure data ecosystem, particularly Azure Databricks, alongside strong SQL and Python development capabilities. Exposure to Azure AI Foundry or similar Azure AI services will be highly advantageous., * Design, develop, and maintain scalable data platforms within Microsoft Azure

 * Build and optimise data pipelines supporting analytics, reporting, and AI use cases
 * Develop and support ETL/ELT processes using Azure-native technologies
 * Implement robust data engineering solutions using Azure Databricks and Spark/PySpark
 * Work closely with business and technical stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions
 * Ensure high standards of data quality, performance, security, and reliability
 * Support AI and machine learning initiatives through modern Azure services
 * Contribute to data architecture, governance, and platform best practices
 * Collaborate with cross-functional teams in a distributed international environment, The ideal candidate is a hands-on Azure Data Engineer who is comfortable working in complex industrial environments and driving data platform improvements at scale. You will combine strong technical expertise with a practical delivery-focused mindset, helping the organisation unlock greater value from its data through modern Microsoft technologies.
