## About the Role

Do you have experience in UNIX?, We are hiring a Senior MySQL Database Administrator (DBA) to manage and optimize production database systems supporting critical applications.

This is a remote contractor role (Guatemala-based only) requiring deep hands-on experience in MySQL performance, scaling, and production support., * 3+ years hands-on MySQL DBA experience in production systems

 * Strong expertise in performance tuning and query optimization
 * Experience with replication, clustering, and HA environments
 * Strong knowledge of backup/recovery and PITR strategies
 * Solid Linux/Unix administration skills
 * Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues
 * Clear understanding of database architecture and design decisions

Preferred Skills

 * Percona Toolkit
 * Nagios / Zabbix or similar monitoring tools
 * AWS RDS or Google Cloud SQL
 * MySQL certifications
 * Experience in high-traffic systems

## Description

* Manage and maintain production MySQL databases
 * Optimize performance, queries, indexing, and system tuning
 * Design and support replication, clustering, and high availability systems
 * Implement backup, recovery, and disaster recovery strategies (PITR included)
 * Troubleshoot and resolve production database incidents
 * Support schema design and SQL optimization with developers
 * Perform upgrades, patching, and system maintenance
 * Monitor database health and ensure reliability at scale
 * Support on-call production issues when needed
