Experience: 5+ Years of Professional Experience, * Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Information Systems, or a related field.

 * At least 5 years of professional research, policy development, documentation, or related experience.
 * Experience developing, revising, or maintaining IT policies, procedures, standards, or technical documentation.
 * Strong understanding of IT terminology, information security concepts, and federal IT environments.
 * Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and organizational communication skills.
 * Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical subject matter experts.
 * Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple documentation projects and deadlines.
 * Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and other common documentation and collaboration tools.
 * Ability to research, interpret, and incorporate regulatory and technical requirements into formal documentation.
 * Active Client security clearance or ability to maintain the required Client clearance., * Experience supporting federal government or Client programs.
 * Experience working with federal IT, cybersecurity, privacy, or information assurance policies.
 * Familiarity with federal cybersecurity frameworks, standards, and guidance such as NIST publications and related federal requirements.
 * Experience supporting policy lifecycle management and governance processes.
 * Familiarity with document management, configuration management, and version-control practices.

## Description

Marathon TS is looking to hire a Research Analyst in support of a newly awarded contract for the Department of Homeland Security (Client) Customs and Border Protection (CBP). All candidates should have the following background, The Research Analyst supports the Department of Homeland Security (Client) by researching best practices/policies, developing, reviewing, updating, and maintaining IT policies, procedures, standards, and related documentation. The position works closely with IT, cybersecurity, compliance, and program stakeholders to ensure policy documentation is accurate, clear, consistent, and aligned with applicable federal requirements and organizational objectives., * Review and update existing Client IT policies, procedures, standards, and guidance to reflect current technology, security requirements, and organizational needs.

 * Develop clear, concise, and technically accurate documentation for IT and cybersecurity programs.
 * Collaborate with subject matter experts, IT personnel, cybersecurity professionals, and government stakeholders to gather and validate technical and policy information.
 * Translate complex technical and regulatory requirements into clear, understandable policy language.
 * Research applicable federal laws, regulations, standards, and guidance to support policy development and updates.
 * Ensure IT policy documentation aligns with applicable Client, federal, cybersecurity, information security, and privacy requirements.
 * Conduct editorial and quality-control reviews to ensure consistency in terminology, formatting, organization, and policy structure.
 * Track document revisions, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and maintain version control throughout the policy lifecycle.
 * Prepare policy drafts, briefing materials, executive summaries, procedures, and supporting documentation for government review and approval.
 * Assist with identifying gaps, outdated requirements, and areas for improvement within existing IT policy documentation.
 * Maintain documentation repositories and ensure approved policies and supporting materials are properly organized and accessible to authorized personnel.
 * Support policy governance activities, including review cycles, approvals, revisions, and publication.
 * Handle sensitive government information in accordance with applicable Client security and information-handling requirements.
