We're seeking a data-driven, technically curious Quality Engineer to lead quality improvement efforts across in-vehicle infotainment and connectivity systems, with a particular focus on infotainment systems, audio systems, and cluster systems, as well as connectivity including gateway modules, telematics modules, Ford mobile app, and the cloud. In this role, you will own key quality metrics, unify quality issue tracking across multiple data sources, and partner with cross-functional engineering and software teams to rapidly diagnose and resolve customer-impacting issues. What you'll do... This role is built for someone who thrives on troubleshooting complex systems, is comfortable reading code and working directly with developers, and wants to use coding and connected vehicle data to drive measurable improvements in product quality and customer satisfaction. * Own and improve core quality metrics Repairs per 1000, Cost Per Unit (CPU), Cost Per Repair (CPR) and end-to-end (E2E) problem solving velocity through continuous monitoring, analysis, and improvement initiatives. * Lead a unified quality agenda, consolidating issues identified across diverse sources such as customer claims, DTC data, service turnaround speed, dealer special service handling, connected vehicle data, mobile app data, and warranty spend. * Conduct root-cause and Pareto analysis to identify the top contributors to infotainment, audio, and cluster failures, as well as connectivity issues across gateway modules, telematics modules, mobile app, and cloud services - across both early-life (low-time) and in-service (high-time) populations. * Use scripting and code review (e.g., Python, SQL) to pull, correlate, and analyze data across DTC logs, telematics/cloud data, mobile app logs, and connected vehicle telemetry - and translate findings into technical conversations with software/firmware/cloud developers. * Represent the quality function at internal and cross-team quality forums, presenting findings, status, and recommendations. * Drive timely resolution of priority items on the quality agenda, ensuring nothing critical falls through the cracks. * Assemble cross-functional support, proactively engaging peers and subject-matter experts (including infotainment, connectivity, and cloud/mobile app developers) to accelerate resolution of customer-facing issues. * Identify and implement process improvements to reduce manual effort and streamline quality escalation management. * Maintain proper tracking and throughput on individual tickets in JIRA/QAI/IRIS. * Submit monthly quality reports with action plans and detailed status. ## Related Videos - [Car's are Technology on Wheels - Impact of Software and IT Competence in Automotive](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/780-car-s-are-technology-on-wheels-impact-of-software-and-it-competence-in-automotive) - [Improving quality with Agentic AI with Rovo Dev and Xray](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/2005-improving-quality-with-agentic-ai-with-rovo-dev-and-xray) - [A Hitchhikers Guide to Container Security - Automotive Edition 2024](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1119-a-hitchhikers-guide-to-container-security-automotive-edition-2024) - [Developing the Backend with Stefan Lingler, CTO at Shpock](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100360-developing-the-backend-with-stefan-lingler-cto-at-shpock) - [For the Cars and the Curious: Android Drift](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/499-for-the-cars-and-the-curious-android-drift) - [Agile work at CARIAD – Creating a customer web application for controlling the vehicle ](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/200-agile-work-at-cariad-creating-a-customer-web-application-for-controlling-the-vehicle) ## Related Articles - [How software is steering vehicle technology](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/515-how-software-is-steering-vehicle-technology) - [What is Software Engineering?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/289-what-is-software-engineering) - [Top Characteristics of a Software Engineer](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/166-top-characteristics-of-a-software-engineer) - [Software Engineer Career: Things You Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/143-software-engineer-career-things-you-should-know) - [Is Software Engineering Hard?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/448-is-software-engineering-hard) - [7 Important Tips That Every Software Developer Should Know](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/101-7-important-tips-that-every-software-developer-should-know)
