## About the Role

We are committed to responsible gambling, and we are looking for people who can support our ethos. To apply for this role, you will have:

 * Solid experience with Python, MySQL & Linux with experience in version control systems, ideally Git
 * Exceptional analytical and problem solving skills with the ability to adapt to a fast-paced development schedule
 * Experience in Kafka, ActiveMQ (or other messaging platforms), Docker, AWS
 * A good understanding of working within an Agile environment, with knowledge of asynchronous networking libraries such as Twisted or Tornado, Redis and other modern non-relational data storage systems.

## Description

Here at evoke plc as a Software Developer, you will design, develop and maintain high-quality software solutions with performance, scalability, extensibility and maintainability at the core of everything you build. Working within an agile Scrum team, you will take ownership of delivering features and technical solutions from concept through to production, ensuring tasks are completed successfully and challenges are overcome with a proactive and positive approach.

You will play an active role in technical and functional discussions, contributing to solution design, architectural decisions and continuous improvement initiatives while developing a deep understanding of the platform and wider business domain. You will also be responsible for ensuring that non-functional requirements, including security, performance, monitoring, reliability, maintainability and usability, are considered throughout the development lifecycle.

As an experienced member of the team, you will mentor and support junior developers, helping to develop their technical skills, confidence and career progression. Through collaboration, code reviews and knowledge sharing, you will contribute to a culture of continuous learning and ensure consistently high-quality outcomes across the development team.

What you will be doing:

 * Designing and developing high-quality code with performance optimisation, extensibility, and maintainability at the forefront
 * Mentoring and supporting junior developers to help them grow their skills and capabilities.
 * Owning and ensuring non-functional requirements are met, including scalability, performance, monitoring, maintenance, security, and usability.
 * Taking initiative and ownership to drive tasks through to completion, overcoming challenges with positivity and creativity.
 * Leading technical and functional discussions within the Scrum team while building deep knowledge of the system and its architecture.
 * Functionally testing all developed code to a high standard, enabling efficient and effective QA testing.
 * Providing support and resolution for production issues as they arise.
 * Coaching, mentoring and assisting junior team members to develop their skills while maintaining consistently high-quality deliverables.
