You'll blend design sensibility with real engineering ability, and be able to take a rough idea, a Figma file, or even just a problem statement, and turn it into a well-crafted, production-quality experience yourself, without needing a traditional design-to-dev handoff., You really need to have: * A strong portfolio showing both design quality and the ability to ship real, production UI yourself * Expertise in modern frontend engineering - React and TypeScript (we use Remix) * A sharp eye for visual and interaction detail - typography, spacing, motion, and the small things that make software high quality * Comfort working directly from a problem statement rather than a fully-specced design - you can drive design decisions yourself * If you are remote you must be within CET to ET timezones (GMT+1:00 to GMT-5:00). We will arrange in-person events throughout the year You'll be an amazing fit if you: * Experience owning design end-to-end at a small startup, without a separate design team to hand off to * Worked at a developer tools company, or have strong empathy for developers as an end user * Experience building or evolving a design system / component library * A track record of shipping fast and iterating in public * If you're based in the UK and you are able to join the team in London * Contributed to open source projects * Previously been a venture-backed startup founder * Have a social media presence ## Related Videos - [Bridging the Gap](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/794-bridging-the-gap) - [Boost Productivity with AI: Figma & Playwright MCP Workflows - Aris Markogiannakis](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1768-boost-productivity-with-ai-figma-playwright-mcp-workflows-aris-markogiannakis) - [Watch Tests Go Brrrr! : Getting Started with Cypress in ReactJS](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/282-watch-tests-go-brrrr-getting-started-with-cypress-in-reactjs) - [Do TypeScript without TypeScript](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/327-do-typescript-without-typescript) - [Fireside Chat with Kris Rasmussen, CTO at Figma](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/982-fireside-chat-with-kris-rasmussen-cto-at-figma) - [Designing the Future of Human<>Agent Collaboration](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1447-designing-the-future-of-human-agent-collaboration) ## Related Articles - [Fully Remote Software Engineer Jobs](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/447-fully-remote-software-engineer-jobs) - [16 Best Free React UI Libraries in 2025](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/148-16-best-free-react-ui-libraries-in-2025) - [Dev Digest 121 - AI goes offline](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/456-dev-digest-121-ai-goes-offline) - [Dev Digest 133 - Back to Front](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/474-dev-digest-133-back-to-front) - [Dev Digest 120 - Apple and peers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/455-dev-digest-120-apple-and-peers) - [Are design and development really just the same thing?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/520-are-design-and-development-really-just-the-same-thing)
