## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or equivalent experience
 * 5+ years of professional software development experience, primarily in API development, is required
 * A shared passion for and ability to demonstrate onX's Company Values
 * Permanent US work authorization is a condition of employment with onX
 * Ability to travel quarterly for multiple days to a corporate office or other onX strategic location, such as a Basecamp, * Experience with Go or similar backend languages
 * Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and infrastructure-as-code technologies such as Terraform
 * Familiarity with a major cloud platform (Google Cloud Platform preferred)
 * Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation platforms (e.g., Eppo)

## Description

onX is seeking a Backend Engineer with a passion for building reliable, well-tested backend services that solve user problems. Your focus will be on the shared platform infrastructure behind content experimentation, event tracking, and app-start fidelity. You will be a part of our Growth Infrastructure team, a horizontal platform team that supports Growth engineering across all of onX's verticals (Hunt, Offroad, Backcountry, Fish). This is a great opportunity to be a part of a dynamic, growing company focused on making an impact on the business, and to build infrastructure that other Growth teams rely on directly. This role will serve as a core backend contributor at onX and will report to the Growth Infrastructure Engineering Manager., * Build and maintain scalable services supporting Growth Infrastructure initiatives, including content experimentation and event tracking

 * Write unit, integration, and acceptance tests
 * Participate in architectural discussions and contribute design proposals for our services
 * Collaborate effectively with other engineers, PMs, and cross-functional stakeholders (mobile, BI, marketing)
 * Leverage and extend existing onX services rather than reinventing them
 * Proactively identify and use AI workflows that increase velocity while not degrading quality.
 * Participate in an on-call rotation to support backend services after work hours
