The Test Automation Engineer is responsible for developing automated test coverage across DT applications and services. The role focuses on turning appropriate existing test scenarios into repeatable automated tests, creating new automated tests to address coverage gaps, and ensuring automated regression coverage remains reliable, effective and maintainable. The Test Automation Engineer works closely with developers, business analysts, product owners and other members of the Test team to understand requirements, identify automation opportunities and embed automated testing throughout the software development lifecycle. They are responsible for investigating automated test failures, maintaining test scripts as applications change, and contributing to the continuous improvement of automation frameworks, tools and processes. This role is ideal for individuals who combine strong technical and analytical skills with attention to detail, an interest in software development and automation, and a willingness to learn and develop their knowledge in a fast-moving, regulated fintech environment. Typical Job Responsibilities * Automation Test Development + Design, develop and maintain automated tests for DT applications and services. + Convert appropriate existing test cases and regression scenarios into repeatable automated tests. + Create new automated test cases and scripts to address gaps in functional, integration and regression coverage. + Develop automated tests that provide reliable and repeatable validation of application functionality. + Create reusable automated test components and scripts where appropriate to improve the efficiency and maintainability of the automation pack. + Ensure automated tests are clearly structured, documented and maintained in accordance with agreed standards. + Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the automated regression test pack. * Automation Test Execution & Maintenance + Execute automated tests and analyse results to identify application defects, automation issues, test data problems or environmental failures. + Investigate automated test failures and take appropriate action to resolve issues or escalate defects. + Maintain and update automated tests in line with changes to applications, requirements and supported business processes. + Review automated tests for coverage, usefulness, reliability and reusability. + Identify redundant, unreliable or outdated automated tests and contribute to their improvement or removal. + Ensure automated tests continue to provide effective regression protection as applications evolve. * Test Coverage & Quality Assurance + Analyse automated test coverage and identify gaps and opportunities for additional automation. + Develop automated tests to improve functional, regression and integration test coverage. + Provide feedback to improve automation coverage, test design, documentation and process consistency. + Support the definition and reporting of appropriate test automation coverage and quality measures. + Apply established QA standards, automation practices, checklists and procedures throughout the software development lifecycle. + Contribute to quality reviews, test readiness assessments and retrospectives. + Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and maintainability of automated testing. * API, Database & Technical Testing + Develop automated tests across appropriate application layers, including user interface, API and database testing where supported by the approved tools and frameworks. + Create automated tests that are not solely dependent on user interface interaction where appropriate. + Use SQL and database queries to support test data preparation, data validation and investigation of automated test results. + Validate data integrity, transaction processing and system behaviour through automated testing. + Develop and maintain the technical knowledge required to understand the applications and technologies being tested. + Apply coding or scripting skills, where required, to develop and maintain effective automated tests. * Defect Management + Identify, log and investigate defects identified through automated testing, ensuring they are reproducible and clearly documented. + Work with developers and other technical teams to investigate and resolve defects. + Retest fixes through automated testing where appropriate and confirm that resolved defects have not introduced regression. + Take ownership of assigned defects and automation issues through to resolution or appropriate escalation. * Collaboration & Communication + Work closely with developers, business analysts, product owners and other testers to understand requirements and identify appropriate automation coverage. + Participate in Agile Scrum ceremonies and contribute automation expertise to sprint planning, refinement and delivery activities. + Communicate clearly about automated test progress, coverage, failures, issues and risks to the Test Lead, Senior Tester or Test Manager. + Work collaboratively with technical and non-technical stakeholders to support the effective delivery of quality software. + Share knowledge, automation techniques and good practices across the Test team. * Tools & Methods + Use approved tools for test automation, test management, defect tracking and documentation. + Experience of using Ranorex automation tool. + Develop and maintain automated tests using approved automation tools and frameworks. + Use test management and delivery tools, such as DevOps and Jira, to support automation activities. + Contribute to maintaining appropriate automated test environments and test data sets. + Apply appropriate automation design techniques to maximise the reliability, maintainability and reusability of automated tests. + Work in accordance with agreed software development, testing and Application Lifecycle Management processes. + Maintain awareness of relevant development technologies and methodologies to support effective automation. ## Related Videos -
