About the role Shivom Consultancy is looking for experienced Senior Solution Architects Digital Platforms & Business Applications to join our growing architecture practice. We are recruiting multiple architects for this role and are interested in candidates with complementary experience across modern digital platforms, enterprise business applications, workflow and case management, scheduling and resource management, information and reporting services, integration and Legacy modernisation. You will provide solution architecture leadership across complex, business critical digital services, working from early discovery and options analysis through detailed design, implementation, transition and live operation. The role requires architects who can understand an existing technology landscape, define clear target and transition architectures and work closely with engineering and delivery teams to turn architectural direction into practical solutions. You may work across bespoke digital applications, commercial platforms, shared application services and Legacy technology estates. Depending on your background, you may bring deeper expertise in areas such as: * Case management and workflow * Scheduling and resource management * Information and reporting services * Application and platform modernisation * Java based digital platforms * Cloud native application architecture * Enterprise integration * Legacy application transformation Candidates are not expected to be experts in every area . We are particularly interested in building a team with complementary skills and experience. You will work closely with enterprise architects, cloud and platform architects, data architects, integration specialists, security teams, software engineers, product teams, service management and technology suppliers. This role will support major UK public sector and enterprise transformation programmes within Shivom's client portfolio. What you will be doing You will: * Lead solution architecture across complex digital platforms and enterprise business applications. * Define current, target and transition architectures. * Develop solution visions, High Level Designs, architecture options and technology roadmaps. * Translate business, service and operational requirements into secure, resilient and maintainable technical solutions. * Architect digital services spanning user interfaces, applications, workflow, APIs, data and platform services. * Design architectures for case management, workflow, task management and process orchestration where required. * Architect scheduling, allocation, booking and resource management capabilities. * Define solutions for information services, operational reporting and business reporting. * Design and evolve reusable application and platform capabilities that can support multiple products or services. * Define appropriate boundaries between applications, shared services and enterprise platforms. * Architect cloud hosted and cloud native applications using Microsoft Azure. * Design architectures for containerised and Kubernetes based applications where appropriate. * Define API, messaging and event driven integration patterns. * Work with integration architects to define secure and reusable integration with internal and external systems. * Define application security, authentication and authorisation requirements. * Design appropriate data access, storage and persistence patterns. * Work with data architects on data models, data migration, information flows and reporting requirements. * Define non functional requirements covering availability, resilience, performance, scalability, security, auditability, maintainability and supportability. * Assess Legacy applications and identify opportunities for modernisation, rationalisation, replacement or retirement. * Define pragmatic transition architectures that enable new and Legacy services to coexist safely during transformation. * Identify and manage technical debt. * Develop application and platform lifecycle roadmaps. * Support migration from Legacy databases, Middleware and application platforms where appropriate. * Define operational monitoring, logging, alerting and observability requirements. * Promote automation and repeatability through CI/CD and Infrastructure as Code. * Work closely with engineering teams throughout implementation rather than limiting architecture involvement to initial design. * Review detailed technical designs against agreed architecture. * Support engineering teams in resolving architecture issues that emerge during delivery. * Identify technical risks, dependencies and cross product impacts. * Prepare and present architecture decisions through technical governance and design authority forums. * Support proofs of concept and technical feasibility exercises. * Contribute to architecture peer reviews, standards, patterns and continuous improvement across Shivom's architecture practice., * Notifications * Correspondence * Audit trails * Role based access * Operational dashboards You should understand how these capabilities combine to support end to end business processes rather than treating each application feature in isolation. Scheduling and resource management Some appointments may require deeper architecture experience with complex scheduling and allocation services. You should be comfortable: * Working directly with software engineers and technical leads. * Reviewing detailed designs. * Reviewing API and integration approaches. * Working through application and data design decisions. * Understanding implementation constraints. * Supporting technical investigations. * Reviewing resilience and performance concerns. * Assessing operational readiness. * Challenging unnecessary complexity. * Revising architecture where delivery evidence requires it. * Helping delivery teams make sound technical trade offs. Security requirements Applicants must either hold current Security Check (SC) clearance or be eligible to obtain SC clearance . Candidates who do not currently hold SC clearance must be willing to complete the required security vetting process as a condition of appointment. The successful candidate will be expected to work in accordance with applicable client and government security policies when undertaking assignments involving sensitive information or systems. Working arrangements This is a UK based hybrid role. You should be comfortable working remotely while also attending Shivom offices, client locations and other UK sites where collaboration, delivery activities or security requirements make in person attendance appropriate. The frequency of on site attendance may vary depending on the nature and stage of individual assignments.
