## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
 * 4+ years of experience working with SQL Server and data engineering.
 * Strong knowledge of SQL, T-SQL, database design, and normalization.
 * Strong understanding of SQL Server database engine concepts, including buffer pool, parallelism, execution plans, and indexing.
 * 2+ years of experience creating, managing, and monitoring ETL/ELT data pipelines.
 * Experience working with C#, .NET, and/or Python.
 * 2+ years of experience working with Business Intelligence (BI) tools.
 * Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
 * Ability to manage shifting priorities and move between different projects and technical challenges as business needs change.
 * Positive attitude with a strong desire to learn and grow.
 * Ability and willingness to work fully onsite, five days per week, in the greater St. Louis region., * Experience supporting databases and applications operating at scale.
 * Experience collaborating with Software Engineering and Data Science teams.
 * Experience gathering technical requirements directly from business stakeholders.
 * Strong database performance tuning and optimization experience.

## Description

* Design new databases and enhance existing database environments.
 * Write and maintain SQL queries and Transact-SQL (T-SQL) stored procedures.
 * Troubleshoot database issues, identify root causes, and document and implement effective solutions.
 * Optimize database performance through query rewriting, indexing, execution plan analysis, and database design improvements.
 * Work closely with Software Engineers and Data Scientists to improve data flow from collection through reporting.
 * Gather requirements from stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions.
 * Create, manage, and monitor data pipelines, including ETL/ELT processes.
 * Monitor database environments and take appropriate action when system or performance issues arise.
 * Maintain technical documentation and follow database development best practices.
 * Adapt to changing priorities and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
 * Continuously develop new technical skills and stay current with relevant technologies.
