You enjoy making environments secure, repeatable, observable, reliable, and easier for developers to use. You may be developing your cloud/DevOps foundation or already be ready to independently own platform components, pipelines, environments, or reliability workstreams. As your experience grows, you may lead platform designs, define infrastructure and DevSecOps patterns, mentor engineers, shape reliability strategy, and influence cloud architecture and platform standards across teams or programs. The work: * Design, build, automate, and operate cloud infrastructure and platform capabilities across AWS, Azure, or comparable environments. * Create and maintain infrastructure as code using Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep, or comparable technologies. * Build and improve CI/CD pipelines, developer workflows, deployment automation, environment provisioning, and release controls. * Deploy and operate containerized workloads using Docker, Kubernetes, managed container platforms, or comparable technologies. * Implement monitoring, logging, alerting, observability, resilience, backup/recovery, and reliability practices for cloud platforms and applications. * Apply DevSecOps, identity/access, secrets management, network, configuration, patching, and security controls throughout platform engineering. * Automate repetitive operational work using scripting and engineering tools and support incident troubleshooting and root-cause analysis. * Use AFS-approved AI-assisted engineering tools and workflows to accelerate automation, troubleshooting, documentation, code development, and platform analysis while validating outputs. * Partner with product engineers, Quality Engineers, Enterprise Architects, security teams, delivery leaders, and client stakeholders. * As your experience grows, lead complex platform initiatives, establish reusable patterns and standards, mentor engineers, and shape cloud/platform architecture and reliability practices. ## Related Videos - [Shipping Faster with Less: Render on Cloud Hosting, AI Workloads, and the Future of DevOps](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1894-shipping-faster-with-less-render-on-cloud-hosting-ai-workloads-and-the-future-of-devops) - [Docker Compose: Rediscovered](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/1978-docker-compose-rediscovered) - [Back(end) to the Future: Embracing the continuous Evolution of Infrastructure and Code](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/440-back-end-to-the-future-embracing-the-continuous-evolution-of-infrastructure-and-code) - [Rate-limiting using eBPF and Istio: How to protect your SaaS customers from themselves](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100220-rate-limiting-using-ebpf-and-istio-how-to-protect-your-saas-customers-from-themselves) - [Docker build without Docker](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/100114-docker-build-without-docker) - [Get started with securing your cloud-native Java microservices applications](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/videos/123-get-started-with-securing-your-cloud-native-java-microservices-applications) ## Related Articles - [What Are The Top Skills Required For Azure Developers?](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/77-what-are-the-top-skills-required-for-azure-developers) - [7 Cloud Computing Trends Coming in 2025 for Developers](https://www.wearedevelopers.com/magazine/412-7-cloud-computing-trends-coming-in-2025-for-developers) - [Got AI ideas but no money?
