## About the Role

Master Degree or equivalent, The candidate should demonstrate skills in: 1) Microstructural analysis of a wide
range of mineral samples using optical microscopy, electron microscopy, and X-ray
diffraction (XRD). 2) Statistical analysis methods for clustering/grouping minerals
based on their physicochemical properties. 3) Knowledge of reaction kinetics and
CO trapping/sequestration using a range of reaction methodologies. 4) Manage in
mechanical testing to evaluate the mechanical response/behaviour of mineral
samples. 4) Preparation of technical reports and dissemination/communication of
results.
Specific Requirements

A Bachelor's Degree in Geology and an Official University Master's Degree in a
Geology-related field

ENGLISH, ACADEMIC TRAINING, up to 3 points;
Grade (Bachelor's) transcript average: up to 1.5 points.
Official University Master's transcript average: up to 1 point.
In the case of a qualification equivalent to Bachelor's + Master's (long-cycle degree,
Licenciatura), the academic record will be assessed, up to 2.5 points.
Other: official language qualifications; certificates related to the use of scientific
instrumentation and data handling; other qualifying certificates related to the field of
crystallography and mineralogy, up to 0.5 points.

0.1 points/year, up to 0.5 points.

## Description

The candidate will participate in the study of CO conversion into MgCO (mineralisation)
as a route for permanent carbon capture and storage, focusing on the structural control
of the carbonate formed (phases, crystallinity, morphology, and porosity) as a function of
reaction conditions, and assessing the use of Mg-rich waste materials as feedstock by
analysing their reactivity, impurities, and technical/environmental feasibility., Conference presentations: oral (0.2 points/presentation), poster (0.1 points/presentation),
up to 0.5 points.
Professional experience in the field of geology and Earth sciences: 0.5 points/year, up to
1 point.
INTERVIEW, up to 3 points
Interview to assess the candidate's suitability for the project and the tasks assigned

OTHER MERITS, up to 1 point.
Research stays at foreign research centres (assessed from one month onwards): up to
0.1 points.
Participation in science outreach activities: up to 0.2 points.
Extraordinary award for Bachelor's or Master's degree completion: up to 0.2 points.
Other: Category B driving licence (0.25 points), advanced software skills (up to 0.25
points).
