What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications) * 12+ years of professional experience building embedded or systems software, with a strong foundation in operating system internals, virtualization, or real-time systems. * Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Computer Engineering, or related fields. * Hands-on background with hypervisor technologies (e.g., Gunyah, QNX Hypervisor, Xen, KVM/ARM) and virtio-based device virtualization, device passthrough, and resource partitioning. * Experience delivering software to ISO 26262 functional safety requirements (up to ASIL-D) and ISO/SAE 21434 cybersecurity requirements. * Depth in secure boot, trusted execution environments, and platform integrity on modern automotive SoCs. * Experience with container runtimes and orchestration in resource-constrained or embedded environments . * Familiarity with Yocto Linux, Android (AOSP/Android Automotive), and QNX SDP as guest or host environments. * Experience with automotive platform standards and practices - Adaptive AUTOSAR, SOAFEE, OTA and continuous update architectures. * Hands-on experience with Qualcomm Automotive SoCs and collaboration with silicon vendors. ## Description The Vehicle Experiences Engine (VEE) at GM is transforming how millions of people interact with their vehicles. At the foundation of that transformation is the Core OS group - the team that builds the high-performance operating-system foundation on which GM's next generation of vehicle software runs. Our work spans hypervisors and virtualization, safety and health management, containerization, and the core OS services that let multiple operating systems - Linux, Android, and QNX - share a single high-compute platform safely and efficiently. As Senior Software Engineering Manager, Core OS, you will build this team from the ground up. You'll define the charter, hire the founding engineers, set the architecture, and establish how the Core OS layer interfaces with the silicon, guest OS, and vehicle program teams around it. You will be accountable for both standing up the team and delivering its first production milestones. This is a defining opportunity to shape the future of software-defined mobility: the platform your organization builds determines the computing efficiency, responsiveness, scalability, reliability of every experience layered on top of it, and across every vehicle program that ships on it - and makes GM's vehicles smarter, safer, and continuously upgradeable.
