## Description

Sie sind auf die Auswahl, Entwicklung, Anpassung, Wartung von Software sowie Datenbanken und auf die Schulung von Anwender:innen spezialisiert. Dafür benutzen sie geeignete Methoden und Verfahren der Softwaretechnik, Programmiersprachen und geeignete Entwicklungswerkzeuge. Außerdem installieren und konfigurieren sie Anwendungssoftware und nutzen ihre Kenntnisse der Systemarchitektur, Hardware und Betriebssysteme zur Fehleranalyse, Störungsbeseitigung und Datensicherung. Zudem bieten sie den Be-nutzer:innen bei Anwendungsproblemen Unterstützung und Information an. Typische Tätigkeitsfelder für Fachinformatiker:innen sind zum Beispiel die verschiedenen Bereiche der Software-Entwicklung der ThULB und der Friedrich-Schiller-Universität.
