## About the Role

* Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering
 * 2+ years of proven programming experience using C++ and Bash Shell scripting
 * Knowledge of Object-Oriented Design and programming best practices
 * Strong analysis and debug skills
 * Experience working in multi-threaded environments
 * Strong verbal and written communication skills
 * Experience working with Linux operating systems

Preferred Qualifications:

 * Able to apply memory management techniques in low-memory environments
 * Familiarity with server storage technologies and concepts (RAID, SCSI, etc.)
 * In addition to strong C++ coding experience, experience with Java, Python, and/or Perl is a plus, Climbing, Crouching, Hearing, Kneeling, Lifting, Pushing, Seeing, Stooping, Talking, Works Around Others

## Description

Microchip Technology Inc. has an opening for an Engineer I-Software Development position in Houston, Texas. In this role, the candidate will work as a C++ software developer in the L1 Quality Assurance (QA) team to enhance and maintain a custom framework for validating storage solutions in a fast paced, non-stop, automated test environment., * Help design, develop, and maintain an ever-expanding automation QA framework and suite of test cases and tools that use system-level and custom IOCTL calls to validate a complete data center storage solution

 * Understand product implementation and expected product behaviors by reading specifications and source code
 * Develop automated tests for validating new solutions and feature sets
 * Improve the efficiency and capabilities of the QA automated test framework
 * Work with QA and Development teams to debug and triage both test case and product failures
 * Maintain servers and other hardware/software components used for continuous automated testing
 * Work with QA and Development teams to track and provide estimates for tasks by utilizing and following the Agile methodology
