Work location: * This role follows an on-site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Austin, TX. Travel: May include up to 15% domestic or international Relocation: May be authorized Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status). ## Description As a Product Development Specialist, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by: * Lead product reliability, verification, validation, and quality engineering activities for next-generation electromechanical systems and installation platforms. * Develop reliability strategies, test plans, accelerated life testing protocols, environmental qualification methods, and engineering verification plans to ensure robust field performance. * Perform failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and corrective action implementation using structured problem-solving methodologies. * Drive Design for Reliability (DfR), Design for Quality (DfQ), risk assessment, and FMEA activities throughout product development and commercialization. * Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, firmware, manufacturing, supplier quality, and regulatory teams to identify risks and deliver reliable, manufacturable products. * Contribute to new product launches across all phases of product development. * Generating intellectual property positions, including invention submissions, patents and 3M trade secrets. Leading technical interactions with corporate, group and division labs to identify new technologies, processes and materials to be applied to the Energy Markets * Developing and commercializing products to efficiently, reliably and sustainably deliver energy to customers around the world, All US-based 3M full time employees will need to sign an employee agreement as a condition of employment with 3M.
