As a Java Backend Developer , you will help develop software that enables organizations to securely manage access to people, buildings, and assets. Within Nedap in security, we work on access management solutions for complex environments, including large organizations and companies operating critical infrastructure. This puts high demands on the security, reliability, and quality of our software. Your main focus will be on the backend. You will develop and maintain reliable and secure services and integrations and build and maintain REST APIs. Working with Java and Jakarta EE, you will look beyond whether something simply works. You will also contribute to building software that remains reliable, maintainable, and easy to test over the long term. You will have the space to contribute to technical decisions, critically assess existing code, and work with your colleagues to make improvements. This means your work is not only about developing new functionality, but also about maintaining and further improving the quality of our software. Your responsibilities Backend development You develop and maintain reliable and secure backend services and software integrations using Java and Jakarta EE. API development You build and maintain REST APIs and ensure robust, maintainable integrations with other systems. Testing You contribute to automated testing and ensure that both new and existing functionality continues to work reliably. Your team As a Java Backend Developer , you will join one of two focus teams working on our on-premises access management solution. Together, these teams are responsible for developing the functionality included in new releases. You will be part of the team focused on APIs, integrations with technology partners, and improving user processes. The team consists of several developers specializing in either front-end or backend development, a software architect, a QA engineer, and a Product Owner. The teams are supported by a DevOps engineer, UX Designer, technical writers, and a team coach. Our offer What's in it for you?, Good to know: You are available for 32-38 hours per week.
