SE is defined as follows: * Experience conducting test runs and performing acceptance testing on less complex applications to ensure functionality and accuracy. * Experience assisting with IT equipment setup for new employees, including workstation assembly, cable management, and basic user account setup following provided checklists. GS-9: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-7 grade level. SE is defined as follows: * Experience supporting desktop/laptop/data storage/network environments, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral issues. * Experience documenting technical processes and assisting in inventory tracking. * Experience independently resolving routine IT issues and escalating complex problems. GS-11: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-9 grade level. SE is defined as follows: * Experience interpreting and applying long-range IT strategy, Federal IT policies, and/or project management techniques (cost estimation, resource allocation, planning). * Experience performing complex system design, modification, and evaluation projects involving large, multi-stage IT systems. * Experience designing and managing databases, including data integrity, security, distributed architecture, and recovery procedures. GS-12: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. SE is defined as follows: * Experience conducting deep research, feasibility analyses, and planning for multi-stage automation or system redesign efforts. * Experience designing database architectures, managing data integrity/security, and supporting backup and recovery operations. * Experience independently designing, modifying, and evaluating large-scale IT systems affecting organization-wide operations. GS-13: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-12 grade level. SE is defined as follows: * Experience leading IT system development projects, including design, coding, testing, and debugging. * Experience applying long-range IT strategy, evaluating new technologies, and recommending enhancements. * Experience implementing project management techniques such as resource analysis, scheduling, milestone definition, and deliverable management. GS-14: Applicant must possess at least one (1) year of SE equivalent to the GS-13 grade level. SE is defined as follows: * Experience providing high-level technical consultation to senior leadership, influencing policy, strategy, and large-scale resource decisions. * Experience conducting advanced feasibility studies, long-term IT forecasting, and evaluating system applicability, sufficiency, and future alignment. * Experience leading major IT projects, determining technical needs, and designing, developing, implementing, and evaluating enterprise-wide systems. Education All degrees must be from an accredited college or university. Education may be substituted for specialized experience as follows: GS-7: Applicant must have a bachelor's degree with superior academic achievement or one (1) full year of graduate level education. Superior academic achievement is the completion of all the requirements of a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university, which is based on (1) class standing, (2) grade-point average of 3.0 or higher as recorded on an official transcript, or as based on courses completed during the final two years of the curriculum, or (3) honor society membership. GS-9: Applicant must have a master's or equivalent graduate degree or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.B. or J.D., if related. GS-11: Applicant must have a Ph.D. OR equivalent doctoral degree OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.M., if related. Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the above requirements provided you can show foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States. ## Description This position advertised has been exempted from the federal civilian hiring freeze., The IT Infrastructure Division (ITID) oversees and supports the FBI's IT systems, networks, and hardware, while also providing devices and software personnel need to connect and collaborate in any situation. The division also vigilantly protects the FBI from digital and physical threats, through access control and credentialing. ITID is made up of 21 units and has employees stationed across the nation., GS-7: * Perform routine systems maintenance and troubleshooting, identifying and resolving minor problems in applications and systems. * Perform software installations, upgrades, patches, and basic configuration tasks. * Analyze work processes to determine system requirements, specifying media, output formats, and report structures. GS-9 (in addition to the above): * Assist with segments of large IT projects, including program design, coding, debugging, and documentation. * Perform studies to research, analyze, design, implement, and test IT systems supporting administrative, clerical, investigative, scientific, and technical FBI operations. * Assess cost-effectiveness of automation proposals, review equipment/software, analyze potential conflicts, and recommend solutions to project leaders. GS-11 (in addition to the above): * Research, analyze, design, implement, and test systems supporting administrative, investigative, and technical areas. * Design databases and manage data integrity, security, architecture, backups, recovery, and system expansion needs. * Support end-users by identifying issues, defining requirements, assisting with software/equipment selection, training, and resolving IT problems. GS-12 (in addition to the above): * Conduct system design studies and develop, modify, maintain, and evaluate complex FBI IT systems impacting Bureau-wide operations. * Design and manage databases, including data repositories, distributed architectures, integrity/security controls, backup, and recovery. GS-13 (in addition to the above): * Lead IT Specialists on major projects, preparing time estimates and coordinating complex assignments. * Implement and evaluate security provisions, ensuring changes comply with policy and determining re-certification needs. * Diagnose and resolve the most complex logic or coding problems; monitor system operations for errors. GS-14 (in addition to the above): * Serve as a senior specialist or project manager, acting as a technical consultant on the FBI's IT systems and critical technical problems. * Provide guidance and technical advice as a subject matter expert with internal and external partners. * Conduct feasibility studies, research emerging technologies, test advanced IT systems, and assess hardware/software capabilities., * Utilizing the Resume Builder, outline your relevant work experience and associated start and end dates.
