You will join an Agile product development team building and maintaining applications that support large-scale compute clusters operating in highly available, mission-focused environments. This role spans the full software development lifecycle - from requirements analysis and software design through implementation, testing, deployment, operations and continuous improvement. You will work alongside experienced engineers to solve complex technical challenges while developing reliable, scalable software for mission-critical systems. What You'll Do * Design, develop, integrate, test, deploy and maintain Java-based applications supporting large-scale distributed computing environments. * Participate in the full Agile software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, software design, implementation, testing, deployment and operations. * Develop software solutions that integrate and extend commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) and government off-the-shelf (GOTS) technologies. * Perform code reviews, architecture reviews, troubleshooting, performance optimization and root cause analysis. * Develop and maintain software using modern Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools and CI/CD practices. * Support software operating within containerized and microservices-based architectures. * Monitor production systems and troubleshoot and resolve operational issues. * Participate in Tier III on-call support for mission-critical applications and infrastructure. * Develop and implements software test plans and test scripts. * Diagnose and resolve software defects and operational issues. * Collaborate with engineers, system administrators and mission stakeholders to develop and deliver reliable, scalable solutions. * Participate in technical discussions and contribute to software architecture and design decisions. * Mentor junior developers by providing technical guidance, conducting peer reviews and sharing software development best practices. * Document software designs, technical processes, troubleshooting activities and system configurations.
