You will support the front-end development of feature and software systems by owning L1/L3 feature definitions, requirements, and test cases, and will work collaboratively with software developers, manufacturing engineers, and component DRIs to support feature definition, software integration, and line-side troubleshooting, ensuring features are well-defined, testable, and manufacturable throughout the development lifecycle. You will supplement our body controls hardware/software integration engineers by driving feature clarity ahead of hardware and software integration, helping bring next-generation body controls features to production. This role is cross-functional and blends desk work with close collaboration across software, manufacturing, and component teams. The position is based in either Long Beach or Palo Alto, and may include occasional travel. What you'll do: * Write L1 feature definitions, L1 feature requirements, and L1 feature test cases * Develop L3 function definitions and allocations, L3 functional requirements, and L3 test cases * Generate sequence diagrams and PUML artifacts to communicate feature behavior to software and manufacturing systems teams * Support software integration by defining network signals/messages needed to implement features, and collaborate closely with software developers through development and merge review * Contribute to and review merge requests in the shared software repository, understanding code changes well enough to validate they meet feature intent * Support manufacturing integration for owned features, leveraging UDS-based diagnostic routines and line-side troubleshooting to resolve issues during vehicle build * Understand functional safety principles and participate in functional safety analyses of complex vehicle subsystems * Support diagnostic integration for owned features, defining and validating diagnostic routines and fault handling * Partner daily with software, manufacturing, and component DRIs to keep feature definition, requirements, and test cases aligned with real-world implementation constraints We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day.
