## About the Role

* 5+years of experience leading software-development teams that deliver ground-segment applications (e.g., mission-planning tools, data-processing pipelines, UI/UX for ground systems).
 * Strong software-engineering expertise with modern development practices (Agile/Scrum, CI/CD, version control, automated testing) and proficiency in languages/frameworks such as C/C++, Python, Java, or similar.
 * Proven product-management capabilities, including requirements definition, roadmap creation, backlog prioritization, and successful delivery of software releases on schedule and within budget.
 * Ability to obtain U.S. security clearance (Secretorhigher) for classified ground-software projects.

Desired Skills

 * Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills to coordinate across cross-functional teams, customers, and senior leadership.
 * Demonstrated ability to assess and mitigate technical risks, ensuring robust, maintainable, and high-quality ground-software solutions.
 * Experience providing IRAD leadership, guiding feature development work from concept through prototype and development
 * Direct hands-on experience with Horizon, Compass, Astrolabe, or the SpaceMesh Orchestrator ground products
 * Background in DevSecOps practices, including secure code reviews and automated compliance checks.
 * Knowledge of space-domain standards and protocols
 * Proven track record of scaling software teams (hiring, mentorship, performance management).
 * Ability to thrive in a matrixed, multi-location environment and balance stakeholder priorities across business units.
 * Strong analytical mindset with experience using data-driven metrics to guide product decisions and drive continuous improvement.

## Description

Manages software development activities. Responsible for coordinating subordinate employee recruitment, selection and training, performance assessment, work assignments, salary, and recognition/disciplinary actions. Oversees the design, development, documentation, and testing of software that contains logical and mathematical solutions to business/mission problems or questions in computer language for solutions by means of data processing equipment. Applies the appropriate standards, processes, procedures, and tools throughout the development life cycle. Applies knowledge of computer hardware and software, subject matter to be programmed in business/mission applications, information processing techniques used, and information gathered from system users to develop software. Ensures software standards are met.
