## About the Role

* Experience with cloud infrastructure, cloud architecture, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering, or cloud migration.
 * Working knowledge of major cloud concepts including compute, networking, storage, identity and access management, security, databases, observability, and high availability.
 * Experience planning or executing migrations of enterprise applications or infrastructure to cloud environments.
 * Ability to understand application architectures, infrastructure dependencies, and deployment requirements.
 * Experience coordinating technical work across multiple engineering teams and stakeholders.
 * Demonstrated ability to identify and drive resolution of technical risks, issues, dependencies, and blockers.
 * Strong facilitation skills and experience leading technical meetings, planning sessions, and readiness reviews.
 * Strong organizational and project execution skills, including milestone, dependency, risk, and action tracking.
 * Ability to operate effectively in environments with ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex cross-team dependencies.
 * Strong written and verbal communication skills.
 * Demonstrated ability to influence and drive outcomes without relying on direct organizational authority.

Preferred Qualifications

 * Experience with OCI, AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, or another large-scale cloud platform.
 * Experience with enterprise-scale data center-to-cloud or cloud-to-cloud migrations.
 * Experience with infrastructure as code and automation technologies such as Terraform.
 * Familiarity with containers and orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes.
 * Understanding of cloud networking, connectivity, DNS, load balancing, firewalls, and security architecture.
 * Experience with capacity planning, infrastructure forecasting, or large-scale deployment planning.
 * Familiarity with Agile, program management, or technical project management practices.
 * Cloud architecture or cloud engineering certifications.

## Description

The Cloud Migration Engineer is a technical leadership role responsible for guiding customers, applications, and workloads through successful cloud migrations. This role combines cloud architecture expertise, technical program execution, and cross-functional leadership to ensure migrations are well planned, technically ready, appropriately resourced, and successfully completed.

The Cloud Migration Engineer serves as a central point of coordination throughout the migration lifecycle-from onboarding and enablement through planning, readiness, deployment, and migration completion. The engineer works closely with application teams, cloud architects, engineering teams, infrastructure teams, operations, and other stakeholders to identify requirements, remove blockers, manage risks and dependencies, and ensure cloud environments and capacity are ready when needed.

Success in this role requires both technical credibility and strong execution skills . The ideal candidate can understand cloud architecture and migration challenges in sufficient depth to guide technical discussions while also facilitating teams, managing dependencies, communicating status, and driving work to completion., Migration Leadership & Execution

 * Lead cloud migration engagements from initial onboarding through successful migration and transition to steady-state operations.
 * Update the consumption plan as the migration effort is proceeding and communicate major changes (up/down) to key stakeholders.
 * Develop and maintain migration plans, milestones, dependencies, readiness criteria, and deployment schedules.
 * Coordinate activities across application, infrastructure, cloud platform, networking, security, database, and operations teams.
 * Facilitate migration planning, readiness reviews, technical working sessions, and deployment checkpoints.
 * Drive migration activities to completion and proactively identify areas requiring intervention or escalation.
 * Ensure technical and operational prerequisites are satisfied before migration deployments.
 * Track migration progress and provide clear visibility into status, dependencies, risks, and upcoming milestones.

Cloud Architecture & Technical Readiness

 * Understand application architectures, infrastructure requirements, dependencies, and cloud deployment patterns.
 * Partner with cloud architects and engineering teams to validate target cloud architectures and migration approaches.
 * Assess technical readiness and identify gaps that could prevent or delay migration.
 * Help teams navigate cloud services, deployment requirements, networking, security, identity, storage, compute, database, and other infrastructure dependencies.
 * Validate that cloud environments and required services are available and ready for migration activities.
 * Translate technical issues into actionable plans and coordinate the appropriate engineering resources to resolve them.

Cloud Capacity Management

 * Identify compute, storage, networking, database, and other cloud capacity requirements associated with planned migrations.
 * Coordinate capacity requests and forecasts with cloud infrastructure and service teams.
 * Track capacity dependencies and ensure required capacity is available ahead of migration deployment windows.
 * Identify potential capacity constraints early and drive mitigation or escalation plans.
 * Align migration schedules with infrastructure availability and capacity commitments.

Onboarding & Enablement

 * Onboard application and engineering teams into the cloud migration process.
 * Educate teams on migration methodology, technical requirements, processes, tools, responsibilities, and readiness expectations.
 * Facilitate enablement sessions, workshops, and technical discussions to help teams prepare for migration.
 * Connect teams with appropriate subject matter experts, documentation, tooling, and engineering resources.
 * Improve migration readiness by identifying knowledge gaps and coordinating targeted enablement.

Risk, Issue & Blocker Management

 * Proactively identify migration risks, technical issues, dependencies, and blockers.
 * Establish clear owners, actions, and target dates for resolution.
 * Facilitate troubleshooting and resolution across multiple technical teams.
 * Escalate critical risks and blockers when additional engineering or leadership support is required.
 * Maintain visibility of migration risks and ensure mitigation plans are actively managed.
 * Identify recurring migration challenges and work with engineering teams to develop systemic improvements.

Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Leadership

 * Serve as a trusted technical partner to application teams and migration stakeholders.
 * Build productive working relationships across engineering, architecture, operations, infrastructure, and leadership teams.
 * Lead cross-functional discussions where ownership or technical direction may not initially be clear.
 * Communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
 * Provide concise migration status, risk, dependency, and readiness updates to stakeholders and leadership.
 * Drive accountability while maintaining collaborative relationships across teams.

Continuous Improvement

 * Capture lessons learned and identify opportunities to improve migration processes, tooling, documentation, and automation.
 * Identify recurring technical or organizational barriers to cloud adoption and recommend improvements.
 * Develop reusable migration patterns, readiness checklists, playbooks, and operational processes.
 * Partner with engineering teams to reduce migration complexity and improve migration velocity and predictability., * Migrations completed successfully and according to agreed objectives and timelines.
 * Consumption model is achieved or accelerated.
 * Migration teams reaching technical readiness ahead of scheduled deployment windows.
 * Cloud capacity and infrastructure available when required.
 * Risks, blockers, and dependencies identified and resolved before impacting migrations.
 * Clear ownership and accountability across participating teams.
 * Effective onboarding and enablement of migration teams.
 * Accurate and timely communication of migration health and readiness.
 * Reduced recurring migration friction through improved processes, tooling, automation, and documentation.
