## About the Role

* BA/BS degree in Computer Science or a related software engineering field, or equivalent practical experience
 * 2+ years of relevant work experience
 * Experience and passion for writing highly scalable, fault tolerant, always available backend systems and APIs using Java
 * Good grasp of relational and non-relational databases, messaging queues, and handling concurrency
 * Understanding of modern architectures, design patterns, and platform nuances
 * Knowledge of release process best practices for APIs and services within production systems
 * Experience working with cloud-based infrastructure and technologies, preferably AWS
 * Experience with testing concepts, test tools, and integrating testing and best practices in the SDLC
 * Strong sense of ownership, urgency, and drive
 * Familiarity working in an Agile environment
 * Passion for working within a fast-paced environment and ability to adapt to change

## Description

* Own parts of product and technology and strive to become a subject matter expert
 * Write simple, extendable code following standards and best practices
 * Test code thoroughly
 * Ensure high code quality in code reviews
 * Help foster an effective and collaborative code review culture
 * Independently design software components in well-scoped scenarios with simplicity and maintainability in mind
 * Make components testable, debuggable, and built with logical APIs that are not easily misused
 * Know when to make significant refactors and when it is better to leave things as-is
 * Participate in code reviews, design discussions, team planning, and support ticket reviews
 * Clearly document software so future developers understand the intent behind the features and components
 * Troubleshoot and thoroughly resolve defects when problems arise
 * Provide excellent customer support
 * Work effectively with other team members and identify opportunities or problems arising from technical decisions
 * Use technology to solve straightforward problems and seek input and guidance from team members
 * Create or improve small tools or applications
 * Take defined designs and turn them into code delivered on schedule
 * Write secure, stable, testable, and maintainable code with minimal defects
 * Apply appropriate technologies and current software engineering best practices
 * Learn the business context and technologies behind the teams software
 * Invent, refine, and develop solutions to ensure they meet customer needs and team goals
