## About the Role

* Were seeking strong hands-on DBA experience across PostgreSQL and Oracle.
 * We require recent, meaningful PostgreSQL DBA experience beyond basic exposure, installation, or support-level knowledge.
 * We require hands-on experience with Oracle 19c or 21c.
 * We require PostgreSQL performance optimisation experience, including index tuning, execution plan analysis, query optimisation, sharding, and partitioning.
 * We require experience managing database clusters and failover.
 * We require strong data modelling experience.
 * We require experience working closely with development and infrastructure teams.
 * Experience with PostgreSQL extensions such as pgvector, PostGIS, or AGE would be beneficial.
 * Additional MSSQL experience would be useful.

## Description

* We expect you to take ownership of application database environments across cloud and on-premise environments, working with developers, data pipeline engineers, data scientists, and infrastructure teams.
 * Manage PostgreSQL database clusters across multiple environments.
 * Monitor, tune, and optimise PostgreSQL database performance.
 * Administer and maintain Oracle 19c or 21c databases.
 * Manage data migrations between database instances, including offline environments.
 * Own data models and the lifecycle of data within the database.
 * Design, create, and manage schemas, tables, and views.
 * Optimise performance through index tuning, execution plan analysis, query optimisation, and partitioning.
 * Manage database clusters and failover strategies.
 * Define and implement backup and recovery strategies.
 * Manage database security, roles, permissions, and RLS controls.
 * Work with infrastructure teams on database installation and patching.
 * Work with data pipeline engineers and data scientists to ingest a wide range of data sources.
 * Apply best practices for storing JSON objects in PostgreSQL.
