## Description

The Senior Database Specialist provides enterprise-level database architecture, modernization, and development support for NOAA NMFS fisheries-dependent data systems. This role is central to data governance, system modernization, and migration of legacy databases to cloud-based environments., * Design, analyze, and modernize Oracle database architectures supporting fisheries management programs.

 * Lead data migration efforts from legacy systems to Oracle databases hosted in AWS environments.
 * Develop and optimize PL/SQL, database schemas, and DDL to support operational and analytical workloads.
 * Analyze existing NOAA Fisheries databases and recommend consolidation and modernization strategies.
 * Provide technical leadership on enterprise data architecture and integration initiatives.
 * Ensure database solutions meet performance, scalability, security, and compliance requirements.
 * Collaborate with software developers and stakeholders to align application and data architectures.
