Working as a peer alongside the existing infrastructure team, you will handle escalated tickets from the 1st line team, own defined areas of infrastructure responsibility, and contribute to ongoing projects. Complex technical escalations beyond 2nd line scope are handled by the Lead Infrastructure & Systems Engineer. As the team grows, you will play a key role in ensuring the estate remains well managed, well documented, and resilient., Resolve escalated tickets referred from the 1st line support team, taking ownership through to resolution and escalating to the Lead Infrastructure & Systems Engineer where required Administer and support the Microsoft Azure and Microsoft 365 estate - including Entra ID, Intune, Exchange Online, SharePoint, Teams, and licensing Support and maintain Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) infrastructure for remote and hybrid workers across the estate Manage and troubleshoot network infrastructure across multiple sites - switches, firewalls, VPN, and Wi-Fi Hold defined areas of infrastructure responsibility, agreed at point of hire based on team skills and current gaps Contribute to infrastructure projects including new site setups, hardware refresh programmes, and cloud migrations Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to the 1st line support team, supporting their development Participate in root-cause analysis for recurring or systemic incidents and implement lasting fixes Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation including network diagrams, configuration records, and runbooks Assist with security monitoring, patch management, and vulnerability remediation across the estate Ensure all work is carried out in line with change management processes, data protection requirements, and IT security policy, This role suits someone who enjoys the variety of a busy infrastructure environment, comfortable moving between a complex escalation, a project task, and a knowledge-share with a junior colleague in the same day. The team is small, technically capable, and collaborative. You will have real ownership of your area from day one, with direct access to senior technical expertise through the Lead Infrastructure & Systems Engineer and the IT Infrastructure Manager.
