Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network. Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc. May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings. Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions. Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems. May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment. May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages. What You'll get to Do: * Must have the experience, maturity, and motivation to work with small teams as well as individually, interface with customers and senior managers. This position is primarily focused on the Operations & Sustainment of several interconnected networks; however, knowledge of System and Network Engineering processes, Agile development, and DevOps is essential for mission success. * Assist in the implementation of required government policies and directives. Provide recommendations on project tailoring, and participate in and document project activities. * Support a team of Information Technology (IT) personnel with varying levels of competence in Windows, Linux operating systems and networking platforms to include legacy serial communications. Providing mentorship in networking and mission system operational concepts. * Position is normally Mon - Fri; may require on-call, evening, and weekend support during system anomalies or mission requirements.
