U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance, * Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 10 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years of experience * Active and transferable U.S. government issued security clearance is required prior to start date * U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance * 3+ years of direct or matrixed technical leadership experience. * Strong background in mechanical and/or electrical design, research, prototyping, or advanced technology development. * Experience supporting defense or aerospace development programs., * Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related discipline. * Prior experience managing engineering teams or research groups in a technology development environment. * Familiarity with emerging defense technologies, rapid prototyping, model-based engineering, and cross-domain integration. * Experience in RF Communication and signal processing hardware development. * Experience interfacing with research customers such as DARPA, AFRL, ONR * Experience working with university researchers ## Description * Lead, mentor, and develop a team of mechanical, electrical, and cross-disciplinary research engineers, providing technical direction, performance management, and career growth guidance. * Drive execution of research and technology development projects, ensuring quality, schedule, and alignment with ART/DART strategic objectives. * Oversee ideation, design, analysis, prototyping, and evaluation of novel mechanical and electrical systems for advanced defense applications. * Foster a strong culture of innovation, collaboration, and technical excellence. * Manage resource planning, staffing, prioritization, and capability development to support current and emerging R&D needs. * Partner with program managers, principal investigators, and business units to transition research outputs into production programs and proposals. * Support proposal development, project shaping, and customer engagement for both internal and external R&D opportunities. * Champion Collins Aerospace values maintaining a safe, inclusive, and high performing team environment. * Research approaches that push technical and organizational limits, enabling hardware design, development, and build cycles that outpace industry benchmarks * Ability to travel up to 15% per business needs
