## About the Role

You do not need to match every item below. We are looking for a software-first engineer with strong data foundations, sound technical judgment, and the motivation to build something meaningful from zero to one.

 * 6+ years of experience in backend, platform, or data-intensive software engineering
 * Strong hands-on skills in Python and SQL
 * Experience building reliable backend services and data products
 * Familiarity with technologies such as FastAPI, SQLAlchemy, DuckDB, PostgreSQL, Spark, or Polars
 * Experience delivering B2B SaaS or enterprise software
 * A software engineering mindset focused on maintainability, performance, and reliability
 * Experience mentoring engineers or leading technical decisions
 * Experience building AI agents, tool calling, evaluations, and production guardrails
 * Comfort taking ownership in an ambiguous, greenfield environment

Experience with Azure, C/C++, mathematical optimization, supply chain, or decision-support systems is a plus.

## Description

* Solve challenging problems involving SQL generation, schema drift, joins, performance, and data quality
 * Define the architecture and technical direction of the AIMMS Data Backbone
 * Build production-quality services, APIs, tests, and CI/CD pipelines
 * Research, prototype, and evaluate new technologies
 * Mentor engineers and raise the technical bar across the team
 * Work closely with Product, domain experts, and technical leadership
