## About the Role

* Proven experience building and operating production software, with a strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud architecture on AWS or a comparable platform.
 * Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with hands-on experience in relational databases such as PostgreSQL.
 * Demonstrated ownership of a data platform or data-intensive system end to end, including data modeling, pipeline design and data quality.
 * Solid grounding in architecture and design patterns for scalable systems, including RESTful API design and multi-tenant security.
 * Experience directing and verifying AI coding agents such as Claude Code, Cursor or Codex as part of your day-to-day workflow.
 * Familiarity with infrastructure as code, containerization and CI/CD, such as Terraform, Docker and GitHub Actions.
 * Healthcare data experience (X12 EDI, revenue cycle, payer contracts or EHR integrations) is a plus but not required; strong engineering fundamentals matter more.

## Description

Tenix Health is seeking a Founding Engineer to join our New York-based team at the ground level with meaningful equity. Tenix is building an AI financial analyst for specialty medical groups: we bring together claims, remittances, payer contracts and cost data that live in disconnected systems, and turn them into cited, reproducible answers for the office of the CFO.

As a key member of our technical leadership, you will own the data platform and architecture underneath the product, from how raw healthcare data is ingested and modeled to how our AI services reason over it safely. This role offers the opportunity to shape a production platform, set the technical bar for every engineer who follows, and build with an AI-native development model from day one.

Responsibilities

 * Lead the design and evolution of core system architecture, ensuring scalability, reliability and security across a multi-tenant AWS platform that handles sensitive healthcare data.
 * Build and maintain ingestion pipelines for fragmented healthcare data, including X12 EDI claims and remittances (837/835), payer contracts and public price-transparency files.
 * Design and optimize the analytics data model, including a dimensional warehouse in PostgreSQL and a dbt transformation layer, keeping queries fast as customers and data volumes grow.
 * Develop and maintain high-quality services in Python and FastAPI, and contribute to our React/TypeScript front end as needed.
 * Build the AI layer on top of the data, including tool-using agents on AWS Bedrock with guardrails, provenance and evaluations, so every answer can be traced back to its source.
 * Own infrastructure and delivery through Terraform, Docker, ECS and CI/CD pipelines in GitHub Actions, and share production on-call for the systems you build.
 * Work directly with provider finance teams to understand their questions, translate them into technical designs, and ship solutions end to end.
