## About the Role

· Demonstrable experience administering and supporting database technologies, including SQL Server 2019 and Azure SQL.

· Proven experience in a Database Administrator or similar data platform role.

· Strong operational expertise in troubleshooting, incident resolution and root cause analysis.

· Experience of database performance tuning, optimisation and capacity management.

· Strong proficiency in Microsoft T-SQL, including query development and optimisation.

· Excellent communication, stakeholder management and attention-to-detail skills.

· Experience using native and third-party monitoring and performance management tools, such as Redgate SQL Monitor and New Relic.

· Experience administering and supporting Azure Cosmos DB or other cloud-based database technologies.

What you'll be doing?

· Ensuring database platforms remain highly available, resilient and performant.

· Maintaining the security of data sources, ensuring access is appropriately controlled, reviewed and audited.

· Collaborating with BI developers, application specialists and middleware teams to enable accurate, reliable data integration and reporting.

· Working with third-party suppliers on installations, upgrades, maintenance, testing and troubleshooting activities, ensuring services meet business and technical requirements.

· Providing specialist database expertise in response to support escalations from DevOps teams and technical colleagues.

· Building strong stakeholder relationships across the business to understand objectives, data requirements and the value delivered through data platforms.

· Executing data management activities in a controlled, compliant and reliable manner.

· Configure, maintain and optimise proactive monitoring solutions using tools such as Redgate and New Relic.

· Manage and maintain software development lifecycle (SDLC) environments, ensuring they remain fit for purpose and operationally effective.
