We usually work with Python, TypeScript, C# & C++, often alongside Vue.js. * Experience writing wellstructured code for complex systems, including hands-on experience of object-oriented programming. * Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals: * + modular design and interfacing + code structure (separation of concerns etc.) + version control workflows + debugging and testing strategies * Ability to work effectively within a teambased development environment, even if prior experience has been in more individual roles. * Strong analytical and problemsolving skills grounded in an engineering or scientific mindset, for example from qualification or equivalent experience in a STEM discipline such as Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or similar. Desirable * Exposure to data processing, machine vision, or related fields, particularly in navigation, positioning or robotics. * Familiarity with multithreaded, realtime, or performancesensitive systems. * Experience working with hardwareadjacent software, sensors, and external data sources. * Experience working across the full stack to develop desktop applications (Windows / Linux). * Experience contributing to shared codebases in longlived engineering products. Ways of Working * Comfortable with iterative development and evolving approaches to solving problems. * Willing to learn new tools, languages or frameworks as part of teambased delivery. * Pragmatic approach to engineering tradeoffs, balancing speed, quality and maintainability. * Be a clear communicator with the ability to explain technical concepts to engineers and nonspecialists alike., Visa sponsorship is not available for this role. Applicants must have a valid, existing right to work in the UK. ## Description We are seeking a Software Engineer to work across a range of technical projects in the Positioning, Navigation and Timing (PNT) domain. You will work with machine vision, sensor integration and data processing in our Navigation and Optical Navigation products including MANTIS and OPTONAV. Domain knowledge can be developed on the job, but a strong foundation in software engineering principles, systemlevel thinking, and collaborative development is essential. You will be involved in the implementation and maintenance of robust software components that form part of larger, longlived systems, alongside shorter proof of concept & integration tasks which build on these components. This role is suited to an engineer with a strong STEM background and solid programming capabilities, who is comfortable working as part of a team to deliver solutions for some of the toughest environments., * Develop and maintain software components for complex engineering systems, writing clear, well-structured code for reuse, using appropriate programming languages and frameworks. * Contribute to projects using rapid iteration cycles while maintaining high code quality and longterm maintainability. * Work as part of a multidisciplinary team, contributing to design discussions, code reviews and technical decisions. * Debug, profile and optimise behaviour in complex or performancesensitive systems. * Document designs, assumptions and interfaces appropriate to the complexity and lifetime of the project. * Adapt skills across projects and technologies as business and technical requirements evolve., * Focused on building & delivering capable software products and systems. * Suitable for engineers who enjoy tackling complex technical problems. * A general engineering role with exposure to multiple technologies and domains. This role is not: * Primarily a datascience or analytics position. * Limited to adhoc scripting or standalone prototypes. * A narrowly defined specialist role confined to a single technology stack.
