## About the Role

* Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
 * 2+ years of software development experience, preferably developing backend applications using Java.
 * Understanding of RESTful API design and development principles.
 * Familiarity with JSON, HTTP, Web Services, and data structure fundamentals.
 * Understanding of relational and/or NoSQL databases.
 * Familiarity with automated testing frameworks such as JUnit and Mockito.
 * Experience or familiarity with source control and CI/CD tools such as Git, Jenkins, or equivalent technologies.
 * Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers, product owners, and other stakeholders.
 * Good written and verbal communication skills.
 * Depending on factors such as business unit requirements, the nature of the position, cost and applicable laws, American Express may provide visa sponsorship for certain positions.

## Description

You'll be part of the Digital Payments Engineering team whose mandate is to develop new products and platforms for American Express customers. Payments Engineering's aim is to build interactive experiences at all touch points of a consumer's journey whether before, at, or after the time of purchase. The products will range from new payment vehicles and partnerships with other payment entities to interactive web experiences., We back our colleagues with the support they need to thrive, professionally and personally. That's why we have Amex Flex, our enterprise working model that provides greater flexibility to colleagues while ensuring we preserve the important aspects of our unique in-person culture. Depending on role and business needs, colleagues will either work onsite, in a hybrid model (combination of in-office and virtual days) or fully virtually.
