You have a strong command of typography, layout, composition, image-making, branding, presentation design, and visual storytelling. Highly hands-on. You're comfortable doing the work yourself and can handle a significant design workload without needing a designer underneath you to execute your ideas. Conceptually strong. You can step back from the individual piece and think about the larger story, visual identity, and point of view behind it. Someone with taste. You know the difference between something that is genuinely interesting and something that is simply trying to look cool. Culturally aware. You have a natural understanding of music, art, fashion, street culture, photography, architecture, and contemporary visual culture. Resourceful. You can take a loose idea and turn it into something tangible. You don't need a 20-page brief to get started. Detail-oriented. You care about the last 5%, the typography, spacing, image selection, crop, paper, scale, and all the other details that separate good work from great work. Comfortable with ambiguity. SEEN is growing and evolving. This isn't a role where everything has already been defined for you., * 5+ years of professional experience in art direction, graphic design, branding, or a related creative field * A strong portfolio demonstrating exceptional graphic design and art direction * Advanced proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and the tools you use to do your best work * Strong typography, layout, branding, presentation, and visual storytelling skills * Experience taking projects from concept through execution * Experience directing photography or other visual content is a plus * Experience in music, fashion, art, media, advertising, editorial, or culture is highly relevant * Excellent communication and presentation skills * Ability to manage a high volume of work while maintaining a high creative standard MOST IMPORTANTLY We already know who SEEN is. We've built the brand, the business, and the point of view. What we're looking for is someone who can refine, sharpen, and evolve it as we move into our next chapter. You'll help us identify where the brand can be stronger, more cohesive, and more distinctive, and then bring those ideas to life across everything SEEN puts into the world. This is not a purely conceptual role. You need to be a highly capable designer who can execute. There will be a significant amount of hands-on design work, from decks and presentations to brand materials, digital, social, and new brand initiatives. We're looking for someone with strong creative instincts and exceptional taste who can think strategically about the brand, but is equally comfortable opening Illustrator, InDesign, or Photoshop and doing the work themselves. ## Description The Art Director will own the visual expression of SEEN across the brand, from major brand initiatives and presentations to social content, digital, print, apparel, events, and everything in between. You'll help establish a consistent visual language for SEEN while also doing a substantial amount of the actual design work. You should have strong creative instincts and excellent taste, but also be the person who can sit down at a computer and make the thing. This is a role for someone who can move comfortably between big-picture creative thinking and detailed execution. WHAT YOU'LL DO * Help define and evolve the visual identity and creative direction of SEEN * Develop the visual language, aesthetic, and overall creative point of view of the brand * Design a wide range of materials across digital, print, social, presentations, environmental, editorial, and physical applications * Lead the design and development of SEEN's brand presentations, sales materials, decks, case studies, marketing materials, and internal communications * Develop creative concepts and visual storytelling around the SEEN brand, its spaces, people, projects, and history * Help shape how SEEN shows up across its website, social channels, events, physical spaces, apparel, and other brand touchpoints * Work closely with leadership to translate ideas, stories, and business objectives into compelling creative * Bring consistency across the SEEN brand and related initiatives, while allowing each to have its own character * Build creative systems and templates that allow the team to move quickly without everything feeling templated * Manage multiple projects simultaneously and take work from initial concept through final production
