This is a senior, hands-on technical role. The successful candidate will become the principal internal owner of Lavinia Stamps' digital systems. They will be expected to combine strong technical capability with analytical and commercial judgement, translating business data into meaningful recommendations for senior management and the Board. This is not a conventional IT support position and is not solely a web-development role. It combines software development, digital infrastructure, e-commerce, ERP, automation, data analysis and business intelligence. The successful candidate will undertake a structured handover with our existing digital contractor before assuming primary responsibility for the environment. Core Responsibilities Digital Infrastructure & Technical Ownership Take day-to-day ownership of Lavinia Stamps' digital infrastructure and ensure that business-critical systems remain secure, reliable and performant. Responsibilities will include: * Maintaining Linux-based web and application infrastructure. * Managing production WordPress and WooCommerce environments. * Managing databases, scheduled processes, APIs, webhooks and integrations. * Maintaining appropriate backup, monitoring and recovery procedures. * Diagnosing application, server, database and integration failures. * Investigating performance problems and capacity constraints. * Maintaining appropriate technical documentation. * Managing deployments and changes safely within production environments. * Identifying technical risks and recommending improvements before they become operational problems. The role requires someone capable of independently diagnosing complex problems rather than relying solely upon external suppliers for technical support. Web Development & E-commerce Take technical ownership of the company's retail and wholesale e-commerce platforms. Responsibilities will include: * WordPress and WooCommerce development and maintenance. * PHP, JavaScript, HTML and CSS development. * Development and maintenance of custom functionality. * Payment, shipping and third-party service integrations. * Performance optimisation. * Checkout and customer-experience troubleshooting. * Maintaining product, customer and order-related integrations. * Supporting high-traffic product launches and other commercially critical events. * Testing and safely deploying website changes. The successful candidate should be comfortable working directly within an established production environment where downtime can have an immediate commercial impact. ERP, Stock & Business Systems Maintain and develop the company's ERP and stock-management infrastructure. Practical knowledge of ERPNext and the Frappe Framework is required. Responsibilities will include: * Administration and maintenance of ERPNext. * Diagnosing ERP and Frappe application issues. * Maintaining integrations between ERPNext, e-commerce and other internal systems. * Supporting stock-control and warehouse processes. * Maintaining product and inventory data flows. * Understanding and maintaining customised workflows and business processes. * Working with SQL databases and ERP data. * Supporting upgrades and continued development of the ERP environment. The successful candidate will need to understand not simply how the ERP software works, but how the underlying stock and operational processes affect the wider business. Data Analysis & Business Intelligence Own the development and analysis of the company's operational and commercial data. Responsibilities will include: * Maintaining internal analytical datasets and reporting infrastructure. * Writing complex SQL queries. * Analysing sales, product, customer, stock, channel and operational performance. * Developing dashboards and management reports. * Forecasting and identifying trends. * Investigating unusual movements and anomalies. * Assessing performance across retail, wholesale and physical channels. * Improving data quality and consistency across systems. * Identifying opportunities, risks and emerging commercial issues through data. Board Reporting & Decision Support A significant part of this position is turning technical and commercial data into useful business intelligence. The successful candidate will be expected to: * Regularly report findings to senior management and the Board. * Present complex analysis clearly to non-technical audiences. * Explain the commercial significance of trends rather than simply presenting figures. * Challenge assumptions where evidence suggests a different conclusion. * Provide evidence-based recommendations. * Model potential scenarios and their likely business impact. * Advise decision-makers on the technical and data implications of proposed changes. * Clearly communicate uncertainty, limitations and risks within analysis. The role therefore requires both analytical capability and the confidence to communicate findings objectively at senior level. Marketing & Social Media Support The successful candidate will work closely with the company's marketing team and should have a practical understanding of digital marketing and social media. This may include: * Supporting website and digital requirements for marketing campaigns. * Providing data and analysis to evaluate campaign performance. * Understanding social media analytics and digital engagement metrics. * Supporting tracking, attribution and analytics implementation. * Advising on landing pages and digital customer journeys. * Helping marketing colleagues evaluate campaigns using reliable data. * Supporting product launches and other high-profile campaigns. The role is not primarily a marketing position, but sufficient marketing knowledge is required to work effectively alongside the marketing team. Incident Response & Business Continuity Lavinia Stamps operates digital systems that directly support revenue-generating and operational activities. The successful candidate must therefore be capable of responding calmly and methodically when business-critical systems fail. They will be expected to: * Rapidly diagnose technical incidents. * Prioritise issues according to business impact. * Make appropriate decisions under pressure. * Communicate clearly with management during significant incidents. * Restore services safely rather than introducing additional risk through rushed changes. * Conduct appropriate post-incident investigation. * Improve systems and processes following incidents. The role includes participation in an agreed out-of-hours/on-call arrangement covering business-critical incidents throughout the year, including weekends and public holidays. The exact on-call arrangements, escalation criteria and associated compensation will be agreed as part of the employment package., Technical breadth is important, but the nature of this position means judgement and temperament are equally significant. We are looking for someone who: * Takes ownership of problems through to resolution. * Remains calm when dealing with critical incidents. * Can diagnose unfamiliar technical problems methodically. * Knows when an issue requires immediate intervention and when it does not. * Understands the commercial consequences of technical decisions. * Can communicate confidently with both technical and non-technical colleagues. * Is comfortable presenting findings to senior management and the Board. * Can challenge assumptions constructively using evidence. * Understands the importance of security, backups, testing and documentation. * Can prioritise effectively when several demands compete for attention. * Continues learning and researching unfamiliar technologies. * Is comfortable working independently while collaborating effectively across the wider business. We do not expect candidates to know every technology in our environment from their first day. We do expect them to possess the technical foundations, judgement and learning ability necessary to take ownership of unfamiliar systems. Handover & Transition The successful candidate will undertake a structured handover with the existing contractor before taking full responsibility for the company's digital environment. This will cover: * Retail and wholesale websites * Hosting and server infrastructure * ERPNext and Frappe * Databases * Automation * APIs and integrations * Analytical datasets * Reporting and dashboards * Stock and ERP processes * Product-launch procedures * Incident response * Backups and disaster recovery * Technical documentation * Known technical debt and future development priorities Responsibility will be transferred progressively, allowing the successful candidate to operate the systems independently while the existing contractor remains available during the transition. What Success Looks Like Within the first six months, the successful candidate should be capable of independently maintaining the company's core digital environment, responding effectively to technical incidents, producing reliable management analysis and advising senior decision-makers on the technical and commercial implications of their decisions. Longer term, the objective is not simply to maintain the existing environment. The Digital Systems & Intelligence Manager should continuously improve how Lavinia Stamps uses technology and data, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, efficiency, automation, customer experience and business decision-making. Pay: £50,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
