Your ability to connect with people, stay organised, and work effectively as part of a team will be key, as you'll be guiding guests through their first VR experience. Our Technician role requires a solid understanding of computer systems and hardware, along with the ability to adapt and learn new systems and processes. Your technical ability will have a direct impact on the quality of our guests' experience. If technology isn't your strength or interest, a role such as "Games Assistant" may be a better fit. That being said, while experience is preferred, what matters most is a positive attitude, a willingness to learn, and a commitment to creating a fun, safe, and welcoming environment for every guest. To be considered for this role, you should meet the following essential criteria: * At least 6-12 months in a customer-facing or customer service role, including sales. * Confidence in upselling and promoting products and experiences. * Fully fluent English Speaking and Writing. * You have great communication skills, and the ability to communicate with colleagues and customers at all levels. * You have strong time-management skills and the ability to handle daily challenges and support other areas of the business. * You have at least a Level 3, Higher Education, Advanced Placement or Higher in an IT related and relevant course. * You have a strong interest in Virtual Reality, PC, and console gaming. * You have at least 1-2 years of experience as an IT technician or similar role. * You have advanced knowledge of Windows 10 / 11 operating systems, including network related services. * You have a familiarity with various Virtual Reality systems, such as, Meta (previously Oculus) Quest, Oculus Rift, VIVE, Pico, Steam VR. (Native & PCVR). * You are skilled in diagnosing PC and general technology issues, identifying the root cause through a methodical process of elimination, and addressing problems by assembling, adjusting, or dismantling components as needed. * The ability to proactively prevent and resolve issues following support guides and steps. * Right to work in the UK. * Ability to work with children (you may be required to complete a DBS check). * Availability to work weekdays. * Availability to work weekends. * Availability to work evenings (typically up to 8pm, give or take an hour). * Availability to work weekends & evenings (typically up to 8pm, give or take an hour)., * You have in-depth experience working within Virtual Reality Arcade Environments and or have experience in a related location based entertainment venues. * You have experience leading a small to medium team and are able to set tasks effectively across the team. * A genuine interest in learning software services used in the growing market of Virtual Reality and location based entertainment. Education: * A-Level or equivalent (required), * Technical support: 1 year (preferred) * Customer service: 1 year (required) * Virtual Reality: 1 year (required) ## Description As a Technician at VRXtra Reading, you'll be part of an enthusiastic and diverse team who excel at excellent customer service, and the use of industry-leading virtual reality equipment, software, and games. This pivotal role involves ensuring the reliability, integrity, and smooth operation of all systems, VR hardware, software, and content. You'll lead the planning and coordination of customer VR sessions, assist guests in having unforgettable experiences, and support your team in delivering exceptional service. Day-to-day, you'll maintain and service PCs, VR hardware, and software, manage and co-ordinate VR sessions, monitor sessions to prevent or resolve technical issues, and support the team with daily operations. You'll also assist customers with enquiries, contribute to sales, and help maintain the store's presentation and cleanliness. Our team is dedicated to delivering outstanding customer experiences; you'll have the opportunity to play, test and experience our VR content first-hand, so that you expand on your abilities to confidently support and guide our valued customers before, during and after their sessions. What we'll offer at VRXtra Reading We have both Part-Time and Full-Time positions available, with shifts scheduled between 11am and 8pm, covering both weekdays and weekends. Schedules are planned well in advance to balance staffing requirements with your personal availability. Your pay will reflect your experience and whether you work part-time or full-time.
