## About the Role

* Strong background working in IT environments
 * Any knowledge of ITIL would be useful.
 * Proven experience as a PostgreSQL Database Administrator.
 * Excellent Unix/Linux knowledge.
 * Strong knowledge of database design, performance tuning, and optimization.
 * Experience with backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning.
 * Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
 * General skills such as writing of documentation.
 * IT related Bachelor or Master's degree is a plus
 * The candidate should also be able to speak and write in English.
 * Security check (Ü2) available or willing to go through the process to acquire it.
 * Willingness to learn and acquire new skills (including acquiring relevant certifications)

Willingness to work in a rotation system (to cover the service hours) and to work outside working hours (usually one Saturday per month)

 * Database Administration (Postgres):

Installation and upgrades, Monitoring, Troubleshooting, General database administration (space management, user management, log file checking), Patching, Backup and recovery, Performance tuning, Service request management, Documentation.

 * LINUX / UNIX Tasks, Usage of LINUX / UNIX to perform the other tasks in this role.
 * Patching and management of Java based applications to provided instructions.
 * Management and troubleshooting of the Java based applications using provided instructions.
 * Scheduling of application tasks using a provided scheduler tool.
 * Working with ticket system for incidents, problems, change management and configuration management
