Personal style and behaviour * Commitment to the support of young people. * Commitment to the school's Equal Opportunities Policy. * Willingness to undertake appropriate professional development. * Assurance of total confidentiality and discretion. * To have a smart and professional appearance and demeanour. * To keep up to date by reading online and published materials about the use of IT in education, attend meetings as required. * A degree of flexibility to work outside contractual hours to support School functions from time to time. ## Description The IT department is located in the main hall where the majority of the administrative functions of the school are located, but supports all three schools with the day to day running of IT Services. The IT Services Technician will need to be able to communicate and assist all staff, parents and pupils., The list below is not exhaustive and assumes that from time to time other tasks not listed, may be required to ensure the efficient operation of the school. * To provide first line technical support in line with the school's IT Service Level Agreement. * To support and advise pupils and staff in the appropriate use of IT. * To keep appropriate records. * To work with the Head of IT Services and his team to deliver a safe, effective IT resource for use by pupils and staff. * To work with the Head of IT Services to plan, support and supervise all holiday based planned maintenance or installations, including liaison with external providers. Desktop and application support * Install, maintain, upgrade and repair a wide range of IT hardware and peripherals. * Install, upgrade and configure a wide range of applications. * Detect, diagnose and resolve PC, peripheral and application errors. * Advise on compatibility of hardware, applications and operating systems, according to user requirements. * Perform routine tasks to maintain user accounts and permissions. * Setting up IT & AV equipment for conferences, meetings and public events. * Regular servicing of projectors, printers and other IT hardware. * Programming of door access control cards for pupils and staff. Configuration and installation * Update records of installed hardware and software; maintain a software library and asset register. * Record and implement changes to hardware and applications; collate and interpret results of testing and advise if goods are fit for use as guided by the Head of IT Services. * Respond to support requests according to school procedures, recording detailed diagnostic information in the school's IT support ticketing system. * Follow school backup, virus protection and security procedures. * Note risks to IT systems and suggest precautions; follow extended maintenance procedures. * Participate in disaster recovery tests. * Work as part of a team and adopt flexible working practices.
