## About the Role

* 9+ years of experience designing, implementing, and supporting enterprise network environments.
 * Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
 * Strong expertise with Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, including VLANs, spanning tree, routing protocols, and network segmentation.
 * Experience supporting multi-vendor enterprise networking environments.
 * Hands-on experience with network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimization.
 * Knowledge of wireless networking, firewalls, load balancing technologies, and network security best practices.
 * Experience with network automation and scripting tools such as Python, Ansible, or similar technologies.
 * Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
 * Professional networking certifications such as CCNP or equivalent are highly preferred.
 * Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.

## Description

Robert Half is actively partnering with an Austin-based client to identify a Network Engineer (contract). In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing critical network infrastructure while ensuring high availability, performance, and security. This role is onsite in Austin, Tx., * Design, implement, troubleshoot, and support enterprise network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and wireless networks.

 * Monitor and optimize network performance, reliability, and availability across complex multi-site environments.
 * Perform network upgrades, configuration changes, and maintenance activities following established change management processes.
 * Maintain network architecture diagrams, configuration standards, operational procedures, and technical documentation.
 * Proactively identify and resolve network issues while implementing measures to prevent future disruptions.
 * Support network security initiatives and infrastructure modernization projects.
 * Participate in on-call support rotations and respond to critical network incidents as needed.
 * Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance to team members.
 * Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement infrastructure enhancements and support business growth.
